FYI: Iowa Dems to set Jan. 3 caucus date
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 01:23 AM by DemFemme
Ready, set, go.

"The Iowa Democratic Party Central Committee will vote Sunday night on a plan to move the Iowa Democratic caucuses
to Jan. 3, the same day as the Republican caucuses.

Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Scott Brennan will recommend the move, according to Carrie Giddins, spokeswoman
for the Iowa Democratic Party.

The date is a Thursday, instead of the traditional Monday, and also is the earliest in history... New Hampshire could still
go on Jan. 8, which would mean winning candidates in Iowa would have very little time to capitalize on their victories and
losers would have very little time to recover from their losses.

If New Hampshire pushes its contest into December, Iowa for the first time would trail New Hampshire instead of precede it."

Coincidentally:

Sources tell First Read the Clinton campaign is making a push to significantly step up their efforts in Iowa. They are aiming
to add more 100 paid staff in the Hawkeye State by Nov. 1... According to an analysis by the Des Moines Register, Obama
has 145 paid staffers in Iowa, Edwards has 130 and Clinton has 117.
