1. I'd love him to run, and I think he would if Hillary weren't.
But I think he has a certain amount of loyalty, plus they'd end up splitting that base.

18. Clinton v Gore? Nasty!
I don't think it's loyalty, necessarily.

But I do think think that Al Gore is not in the mood for fighting against Hillary.

Gore talks about this in a recent interview with a Harvard alumni magazine.

23. Agree....Gore likes what he is doing, doesn't want the hassles of running...
Sad, but true...

16. Well, he could say "If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve"
That would put the rumors to rest.

"No plans" to run is a non-denial denial.

The other week, I had "no plans" to watch the World Series, because I didn't know my team would be in it--they were fucking up, behind the power curve, I thought they might not make it.

But my plans changed, because they did make it....

26. Even if he said "I will support the eventual Democratic nominee"..
I think there would be some people who would take that to mean he will support himself.

9. OK, I just got to ask: How could Gore
possibly win the presidency if a candidate has, is essence, already been chosen by dem voters via the primary process. Frankly, if Gore got in that late, he'd face a tsunami of opposition.

You must have a really distorted view of who Al Gore is. Clue: he's an honorable man.

25. Honorable and a loyal lifelong Democrat...
He is the son of an honorable and loyal Democrat. Agreed Cali, anybody who gets this idea about Gore running on a third party ticket doesn't have a clue about who Al Gore is, how could they be so convinced that they support him?

11. I'd love for him to run, but he won't.
I genuinely think he loves what he's doing right now. And winning the Nobel Peace Prize will enoble him to work even harder. A Presidential campaign will be limiting for him. He won't be able to say the things he wants to say.

Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 10:38 AM by Tesha
I'm starting to believe we need a draft.

It's becoming more and more clear that our "all
volunteer" political corps isn't working out.
The kinds of people who volunteer for politics are
often *THE LAST* people you'd actually want to
delegate your authority to to run the country.

Liars, cheats, greedy power-hungry monsters...
you get my point. They sign up for the enlistment
bonus and the free health care and then go AWOL
on us, leaving all principles behind. They go
from junkets to just plain junk faster than
you can say "Congressman, can you help me?".

Maybe we need to start drafting our politicians?

Let's start by awarding Albert Gore, Jr. #1 in
the draft lottery!
