Biden Responds To Thompson Remarks On Iraq War
(I can't believe what Thompson said! Is he TRYING to get himself knocked out of the race? What an idiot!)

Des Moines, IA (October 25, 2007) – Sen. Joe Biden responded today to remarks by former Sen. Fred Thompson that, “we will not be a safer America if the whole world watches us being defeated by a bunch of kids with improvised explosive devices.”

“If Sen. Thompson believes that we are fighting ‘a bunch of kids,’ he is totally divorced from reality,” said Sen. Biden. “He should come back to Iraq with me and talk to our soldiers who are in the middle of a civil war between lethal militia or fighting the Bush-fulfilling prophecy of al Qaeda in Iraq or being blown up by IEDs.

If he goes to Iraq he’ll also see first-hand that we have the finest fighting force in the world who've been dealt a terrible hand by this administration, which went to war unnecessarily, with too few troops, without the right equipment, without a plan to secure the peace and now with no plan either to win the war or end it.”

What an idiot.

That said, I hope Thompson gets the nomination. We would win for sure, even with Diebold.

7. I honestly can't believe that biden isn't doing better in the polls

he has a solid resume, is steeped in the issues, and has been totally on his game in the debates. if I had to pick a kerryesque candidate to come from the back of the pack to win the nomination, it would be him.

8. The Biden phenomom. He is most people's #2 choice. Why?
Because according to the polls they don't think he will win. And that is keeping people from supporting him.

People like him, they think he knows what he is talking about, like his style, like his ideas....but don't like where he sits at the polls. I believe if Biden's numbers start to move up, they will explode.

He talks about it here - towards the end of the interview.

Alos, wtf are you talking about, "stunk up" the campaign trail? When you don't raise 50 mill $ and the msm ignores you, it's a bit hard to break through, no offense.

Seriously, WHY s hillary better than Biden, in your mind?

18. ah, I see.

hillary is my "my girl" because (and I am not trying to provoke anyone)
she clearly has bigger balls than any of the other candidates.

the shit that she endured during bill's administration was unfathomable.

and, she is a re-elected senator from a major electoral state, she has a
nearly 100% ADU rating, and she knows how to kick the fucking rethug's asses.

22. Yes, I do actually want to have this conversation
Biden has been through the deaath of his wife and daughter, and survived two brain aneurysms. Moreover, he can WIN republican votes and can carry many southren states, unlike Hillary. Biden is known as the best foreign policy mind in the senate. He's passed the Biden Crime Bill, the Violence against women act, and was the impetus for the dayton accords.

Does Hillary have these kinds of balls? WATCH THIS!:

23. you are feeling, and not thinking, my friend

first of all, the deaths of family members, while tragic, simply
are not relevant to presidential politics. neither are his brain
aneurysms.

second, as a senator, he indeed does have credentials on foreign
policy, but two of the three accomplishments that you cited are all
domestic accomplishments. and dayton never went anywhere.

while I admire him, i fear that his time has passed.

and being chairman of the foreign relations committee is probably
the most important job in the country, other than actually being
president, he doesn't get proper credit for that. of course, that
isn't his fault.

peace, my friend. we are on the same side.

25. No, actually, I am thinking.
Dayton stopped a genocide and provided a settlement in Bosnia. I was also highlighting just SOME of his domestic legislative achievements domestically to highlight the fact that Biden can WIN republican votes rather than "fihght" them. I'll vote for Hillary in the general if she's nominated, and I'm not trying to pick a fight, but Biden really is the best candidate in a long time and I hate to see people dismiss him and jump on the hillary bandwagon for stupid reasons.

26. you do me a disservice

when you assume that I am merely "jumping on the bandwagon".

and I would never "dismiss" a statesman on the level of biden
for president. I simply think that he isn't the best candidate.

and, for God's sake, can we get over the delusion that we can
capture republican votes? fuck them! we are after swing voters.

It is still early and no one really knows who will be the nominee for sure. Like most Democrats, I will support whoever wins the nomination, so it is best to save the dissing for the republicans. We really have a great line up to choose from.

37. actually...
there have been several converted republicans that have expressed their support for Joe over on the biden blog over the past few months, largely in part to his leadership on Iraq. Don't say never. I think it's a bit cynical to think that moderate Republicans will NEVER switch sides. Hillary could still win, I believe, but Biden would absolutely destroy any of the repubs.

42. If Hillary is the nominee, I am quite certain she will win the
general (geez, look at the sorry lot the republicans have), but I also believe that Biden would win by a far greater margin.

I also believe there are republicans who will cross over just like Dems did with Reagan. This will be a historical election in many ways.

28. I neded to chime in here
going back in time is not what it might seem. Back in 88 my social studies teacher Dr.Santee and I laughed at Biden (I was just 18 and voting for the first time.) "going back in time" infers Biden is the same now as then. he is not. back then he had 16 years in Elected Federal government. About the same as Hillary does now. she is maturing well, so has Biden. he has learned to Work with the rethugs, and to see things His way. They respect him. yet with Hillary. she is by far more polarizing. (To the people, just fine with big business) Her Recieving massive donations from pharmacuticals, insurance and Lobbyists, http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/select.asp?Ind=F03 coupled to the assumption it will be another Bill presidency. forces me to wonder if in fact "you are feeling, and not thinking, my friend". :hippie:

Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 10:12 PM by Andromeda
Fred Thompson is dumber than a doorknob, he's too old and he has cancer. It's apparently in remission now but what would happen if he died in the middle of his presidency. Paul Tsongas(D) who also ran had cancer too and his sickness prevented him from winning because voters wanted a healthy candidate.

Thompson's only running because the Republicans are desperate. Stupid things have come out of his mouth ever since he announced he is running.

Joe Biden will have his pick of cabinet posts in Hillary's administration. He would even make a good vice-pres.

very reason you stated. Being president is a very stressful job and whoever gets elected needs to be in excellent health. Thompson looks absolutely awful! Of course, it doesn't help that he is dumber than dirt as well.

Thanks for the positive comments about Biden and I'm sure he'll have a place for Hillary in his administration as well!!! :toast:
