has the potential to move up to bigger things.

State legislators, city councilors, county commissioners, that kind of thing-- not governors or members of congress.

I guess I'll go first-- the state representatives for the Tempe area in Arizona, David Schapira and Ed Ableser, both seem to have a lot of potential, with congressional or state cabinet runs possibly in their futures.

3. A young lady who is in the Iowa State House of Reps.
Her name is Elesha Gayman and she is a mere 28 years old. She pulled off an upset in '06 against a long established incumbent in a largely "red" district. I know because I used to live in that part of town. She worked hard to get elected and works hard for the people of her district, as well as for the people of Iowa. Look for her in a few years.

4. in w.va, we're pretty lackinh
the only big names are lifelong career guys.
rahall could move from 20+years in congress to the senate, for example

i do belive we may have apromising new face in natalie tennant when she gets elected as SOS next year
i used to think huntington mayor dave felinton had promise, but he's really sold out to the establishment and has lost the grassroots appeal that got him el;ected. word is, he may not even get reelected as mayor

7. Dave Zuckerman, Progressive State Legislator and Chair of
the Ag committee in the Vermont House. Ponytailed organic farmer, but the guy definitely has potential.

Wisconsin state senator and likely heir to Russ Feingold's seat. He is a progressive and also has a reputation as a consensus builder.

11. Unfortunately My State Senator
Mark Norris, he is a Republican. He is a nice enough person to meet and talk to. He seems to have some good points but he will follow the republican line all the way when he moves up.

12. State Senator Sheila Kuehl of California
She's serving her 13th year in the California legislature. She's received all sorts of accolades and is a strong supporter of LGBT rights, abortion rights, and a single-payer health care system for the state. Her bio is here:

I have mixed feelings, though, about her going on to national office since she is such a valuable representative for Californians.

13. Lisa Madigan, IL Attorney General, has a lot of potential
Chances are she will run for governor in 2010, however the albatross of her father and machine politics will always follow her.

15. Very nascent but Nate Reichert here in Iowa
early 30s, very focused and extremely personable. In the state house currently. Not sure that he wants to go higher.
