Poll question: Halloween DUs Straw Poll
And no, Kucinich and Gravel are NOT part of this poll. Let's be realistic and stick with the top 6.

the actual reality of the race. Neither DK or Gravel have a chance to win this. At all.

28. The reality of the race is that MSM has it locked for Hillary
Maybe if MSM got a clue how popular DK is with the rank-and-file, they might start treating him more seriously.

If we marginalize him here, why shouldn't the MSM?

And if the OTHER candidates realize how popular DK's views are with the rank-and-file, then that might give them a clue as well.

Not Hillary, therefore making it look like more people on DU support Obama than Hillary.

11. And more to the point
Arguments can be made at this point for further narrowing. Hell, its not all that unreasonable to go as far as having a poll with Clinton only if you are going to base things purely on current polling. Anything more than limiting it to declared candidates at this point defeats the purpose of a straw poll.

14. NO. You have CHOSEN to marginalize them....
that's something else altogether. Besides, what does his war chest have to do with a "straw poll" on DU? Kucinich and Gravel are both honorable men (as is Barack Obama and every other Democratic candidate). Why not just include both of them on your Halloween Poll and let the chips fall where they may?

21. If "poll numbers" are what you base your "straw poll" on...
Why not just have it be with Clinton, Obama and Edwards? Why not just marginalize the rest of them? Or would that be a bit TOO obvious? I keep reading posts from DUers who write that "polls don't mean anything", "the only poll that matters is the one taken on election day", "no one polled me", "the MSM is manipulating the poll numbers" etc. so why marginalize candidates who are clearly in the running based on "poll numbers"? What purpose does it serve? Or is the answer to that question all TOO obvious?

55. Biden, Dodd, Edwards, and Kucinich did well in the debate
Richardson looked like he was running for Hillary's Secretary of State, and Obama hit an infield fly ball on a softball thrown by Brian Williams that he should have hit out of the park.

Hillary screwed up badly in the debate.

BTW, I am a Bidenite, and our guy is now polling into double digits.

26. Biased
If you are going to include Dodd, Biden and Richardson you need to include Kucinich. He outpolls most of the others in some legitimate polls. I understand your fervor for Obama, I was a supporter of Jesse Jackson in 1984, but try not to let it cloud your objectivity. If Obama finishes third or less, he will in all likelihood, drop out of the race and some of the others will surge ahead.

40. No DK, no vote.
The DU straw poll of all elected candidates with the most responses I've ever seen on DU, more than 1,000, has Obama showing a lackluster 10%, in 4th place. Dennis Kucinich in first place, carrying more than 3 times Obama's votes.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3649440

I can see why you might want to leave DK out. Probably the same reason that DK fielded a UFO question last night, but Obama didn't have to field a McClurkin question.

If you want a realistic poll of where DU stands on the candidates, though, you won't exclude any, especially a DU front-runner.

Push polls are corrupt.
