Clinton says Russert was "Breathtakingly" misleading
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/thebigblog/archives/124945.asp

"Breathtakingly" misleading. That's what former president Bill Clinton called a question Tim Russert asked his wife at this week's Democratic presidential candidates' debate. And boy was he mad.

"The implication was that in the last few weeks since she'd been a candidate, I had endeavored to cover up records involving her. You agree with that? That's what people thought when they heard that question," Clinton said. "Here are the facts."

He asserts the letter in question is five years old, involves Hillary only incidentally and requests that the National Archives speed up the release of certain documents, not slow it down. Read more about the controversy here.

Clinton made the comments during an appearance Friday morning on the Microsoft campus with CEO Steve Ballmer. To hear Clinton's impassioned defense in his own words, watch this video by P-I reporter Todd Bishop.

20. Of Course Not, Ma'am
What would anyone expect but that President Clinton would call Russert on the distortion and knowing falsehood the wretch engaged in?

Edwards / Obama / Dodd--slept with the media. Allowed the misleading questions. Allowed them to attempt to annihilate her with lies and distortions and misleading twisted facts.

7. he was great at the end of the video
when he says the whole debate was a canard. Russert was asking Hillary bullshit gotcha questions on 5 year old documents while other candidates got questions on do you believe in UFO's, alien life, what they would be wearing for halloween.

8. Also misleading-----Tim asking the candidates what their favorite Bible verse is?
I guess Tim gets to decide if a viable candidate must put his/her Christian beliefs on public display in order to be electable? NBC should take action!

11. Of course the Russert fans will pooh-pooh Bill's version.
If anybody doubts that BOTH Russert and Williams fired the first salvos at Hillary and acted like prosecutors examining a criminal it must be because they enjoyed the "Hillary 'Gore-ing' ." The transcript tells the whole story. Since the Hillary bash-fest is an every day feast on msnbc it came as no surprise. Matter of fact, it was around 20 or so minutes before either Richardson or Kucinich were even included in the "debate."

13. Russert's a dick, but Hillary's poor performance wasn't his fault
If you constantly shade the truth and refuse to commit on key issues, you're eventually going to get yourself turned around on your message. It's much easier just to have core principles and stick to them.

16. you are buying the propaganda hook, line, sinker
when has she "constantly shaded the truth?" That is simply more political twists.

So much for in-depth analysis. This is partisan hackery.

And "constantly shading the truth" is me being nice. "Lying her ass off whenever it benefits her" is a more accurate statement.

That's call projection. Another habit the Hillary campaign has picked up from Bush and the GOP.

Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 09:38 AM by Skip Intro
they're (some of them) are doing that to her

it moved Richardson to speak up at the debate

and Hillary's the one who's acting like bush?

If those other campaigns have any mirrors, they might try taking a good look into one.

34. It depends on what your definition of "is" is - Bubba is the wrong one to talk about misleading.
Not only did Bill lie to the grand jury investigating that matter, he lost his license to act as an attorney for 5 years - he lost any credibility he ever had with anyone who wasn't a rabid yellow dog Democrat clear back in 1998 over "that girl".

But, more to the point, if Hill can't handle some idiot like Tim when in a one-on-one, face-to-face debate like that, she never will - she'll be made into mincemeat in the grinder mill when the General election season comes around, if she is the nominee.

In the same video he's heard saying he 'had never seen Russert deliberately mislead people". That's on minute 3:04

Oh yeah?

What about all these times that he says Giuliani leads Clinton in polls citing 1 or two of the latest 10 polls?
I guess Bill didn't see those shows.

24. This is what good politicians do. So chalk this up for Clinton. If it happens to
Obama, hopefully he'll point out any accusations or questions that aren't fair. If that's what a politician thinks, s/he needs to say it and take up for himself. As opposed to Kerry, who tried to rise above it all, while those all around him threw daggers at him.

Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 07:00 PM by Maribelle
Because in all likelihood Russert was. And if you watch a clip of the debate at that point, with the sound off, the venom on Russert's face was pure evil.

It's truly sad that Russert has stooped this low.

These people would sooner be dipped in a vat of acid than see the Clintons return to the White House again. Pretty sad for them, and, of course, for us if we nominate Hillary.

37. Who cares... Hillary was breathtakingly misleading in her answers...
She can never just answer YES or NO and then shut up. She's always got to find wiggle room just like Bill. I'm tired of "triangulated" answers. I want straight answers. The 90's are over. So are the Clintons.
