This BB in a Box Car is Bouncing with a Final Direction to Joe Biden.
It's no secret that I have bounced around like a BB in a box car ever since Wes Clark opted out of a run for the White House. I will support any of our candidates on their worst day over any other option because I like all of our candidates. None is without faults and none are Republicans in name only. None.

But, the last debate, as I watched all of our great team, I was really taken with Senator Joe Biden on so many different levels that I found myself rooting for this darkest of horses now. I also have noticed that many others here who I respect who have stayed "neutral" all this time have also begun gravitating to Senator Biden.

In all fairness, Hillary was ganged up on in the last debate, whether her detractors want to admit that or not, but she also left herself open to some legitimate criticisms. I think that Biden pointed out the folly of Hillary's vote for the Kyle/Lieberman Resolution without it appearing personal. I still like Hillary. I still like John Edwards. I still like Barack Obama. I'm crazy about Dennis. And I admire Chris Dodd.

DU's very own IndianaGreen, whose progressive bonafides, are certifiable, declares that she is a "proud Bidenite". That's an endorsement I respect.

And, I gotta tell you that I've really warmed to Senator Biden a lot in the last weeks. And no matter how he does from this moment on, he's demonstrated to me that he could make one hell-of-a-tough candidate for the G.O.P. to defeat. He fights back and cuts through the bullshit. I like that.

19. He is a good choice indeed.
I never gave him a shot from the first moment he entered, but he's certainly got my attention in the last six weeks. I have now watched the last debate a second time and Biden clearly towered over everyone else. And there were a lot of "I agree with Joe" comments from his opponents.

Honestly, I am very proud of the entire group that we have this time, but my BB may finally have stopped bouncing.

2. I don't see how he gets past Hillary, but I can see a path to second
and from that point, who knows?

3. I also like he doesn't pretend to be something he's not. His voting record is solid enough

on the liberal side though Biden does trend towards the center. But guess what? He isn't pretending to be a populist or pandering the netroots.

I like that.

And if you look at Dean and Edwards' voting records and governance, they were centrists as well.

Having to lean left during a primary just puts candidates off balance.

Better to just be yourself and show some LEADERSHIP and be who you are.

Answer the freaking questions.

Be sincere.

BTW, Edwards' attempts to appear as a populist would hurt him the GE.

4. Why Biden?
I don't agree with everything Biden says or believes in, but he is the real article. Biden is the straight talker, and there is no doubt where he stands on the issues. Speaking of issues, Biden is the only "grown up" when it comes to Iraq and Iran. As far as experience goes, Biden has the entire "top tier" beat several times over.

While Kucinich remains my sentimental favorite, Biden is my pragmatic choice for President.

The above is an excerpt of what I posted on the Biden group in mid-October. I have no reason to regret becoming a Bidenite. In an era of parsing, triangulation, and spin, it is refreshing to see and hear a candidate that tells you what he means, and means what he says. Biden also has a good grasp of the foreign policy collateral issues that the other candidates from both parties seem so woefully ignorant of. For example, Biden's discussion of the consequences to Pakistan and Afghanistan of a US attack on Iran was ignored by the media, but not by yours truly.

20. He is a solid pragmatic choice.
Your support of Joe helped push me over to him, IG. I have no hesitation saying so.

Biden has continued to show presidential timber, real leadership skills and his distaste for B.S. appeals to me. Certainly, he gets the fragility of world affairs more than anyone of the other candidates, with the exception of Bill Richardson and the husband of Hillary.

I like all our candidates. But Biden is ready to step into the White House and is progressive "enough" for me to gladly get behind him.

5. I wonder how many other people
(outside of DU) noticed the things that you and others here have noticed. To me, he really stood out on that stage in spite of the mere six minutes he had. I have to believe a lot of people sat up and saw what we saw.

17. Yeah, he is "nice looking"
I wouldn't base my support on that, but his presidential look doesn't hurt. Can you imagine Rudy in the Oval Office or giving the State of the Union address?

7. he's also clean and well spoken. lol. just kidding.
he's gotta get a little grief for that weird assessment of Barak as a candidate. BUt I do see what you mean. He comes across as very sure of himself and not afraid to take on all comers. I could see him staring down our enemies and taking a rational approach to foreign policy.

8. Biden's got an up arrow with me too.
Not only would he be a better president than any Republican prospect, he could be a better nominee in the general against any of them.

13. oh wait...
maybe "endorse" was the wrong word. I heard she was praising him and bashing the media for not covering him as much.

Getting a little excited here.

18. She's praised him a number of times
I think it would be wrong for her or any of the other talk show hosts to actually endorse anyone.

11. On the post debate interview with Chris Matthews (which was just as
impressive as the debate, IMO), in response to a question from CM Biden was explaining why he felt he was the best candidate for this time and ended with "but of course, that's up to the American people to decide". I felt like he was saying "here is who I am - if this is what you want, then I'm your guy." Not trying to CONVINCE anyone - I was so impressed.

I'm so pleased to hear your view of Biden, David! Thanks for your post.
