Van Hollen: Bush Republicans in Trouble in '08

In a meeting with reporters, DCCC Chair Chris Van Hollen made it clear that Republicans choosing to stand with President Bush and against a New Direction will be held accountable at the polls in '08:

"People recognize that the Bush administration is very unpopular for standing in the way of change," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "George Bush and his legacy will be on the ballot in 2008."

The American people are tired of the Bush era and want the change that only a Democratic President with a strong Democratic Majority can provide:

A new survey released by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press found that Democrats fared better among Americans, with 48 percent believing they could bring needed change compared to 26 percent for Republicans.

Big picture: I support Democratic primary challenges for the House seats. It's healthy, it's local, and it's needed for the party.

And in the final run, the general elections, I encourage your support of the DCCC's red state > blue state movement.

Our best shot at reversing the (R) agenda is building a bigger House. Thanks.

2. I had the honor and pleasure of voting for Chris Van Hollen
for his first term in Congress in 2002.

He was running against Mark Shriver (John Kennedy's nephew) and a couple of other excellent candidates in the primary. But I thought Chris was the best qualified and I think he has proved me right.

6. Have you ever met Chris Van Hollen?
I have and I can say he's bright, hard working, and progressive.

7. I've received letters from Ted Kennedy on behalf or to raise money
for the DSCC but I just saw where Schumer and Feinstein will vote for Mukasey out of committee to be confirmed by the senate. I don't plan to send them money either. I do not look at the DSCC as progressive just because Kennedy's name is on these letters. The same applies to Van Hollen and the DCCC. I probably should have just been quiet and not posted but I have difficulty in suppressing my feelings.

9. I see your points, yet what's the realistic, political alternative?
How do we build a bigger party, a larger voice, without a greater number of Democratic Representatives?

10. I have donated to both in the past but can't bring myself just to
donate for anyone no matter their views anymore. Now I only donate to the DNC, individual campaigns, and the PDA right now. I don't know if there is any good answer, I can do only what my conscience allows.

12. I don't have that much money to give
and when I do give I usually donate to individual candidates.

I passed out lit for Van Hollen when he ran in 2002. And I donated a small amount to his campaign.

I am not telling you who to donate to. I just think Van Hollen is a good guy and in the real world I don't think we'll find a better Congressperson.

8. Gov. Dean supports the DCCC agenda, as do many other party figures.
And that agenda is primarily electing Dem's to the House.

We need to build our majority in the House. It's a basic step to passing more progressive legislation.

The entire House is up for election in '08. Pick your choice for Rep. and vote.

You need not be fooled. Voting is pretty straightforward.

Not that the DEM Ship doe snot have any. But the Rethugs are taking on water by the gallons and I look forward to the captain going down with the ship.

If they carry on and fuck with Iran, consider it the last nail to their coffen. It will not keep them in office, but it will banish them from the Hill.
