We mock Ghouliani about it. Do you know why Dennis had 3 wives? I hope he isn't twice divorced, because I really kind of mind when people break vows.

21. Technically, nothing. But pragmatically, a lot.
Voters question the judgment of people who have gone through multiple divorces. Couple that with the fact that his wife is only 29, and it does raise questions about his character.

"gay marriage ruins the sanctity of marriage" bullshit line.

I knew Kucinich was divorced, but I don't give a damn about it because unless he's being a hypocritical asshole, like Giuliani, it doesn't matter and it isn't my business.

Here is Giuliani bullshitting about how "sacred" marriage is.

6. On behalf of divorced people everywhere:
1. Assuming you weren't the first or second Mrs. K, his marital vows are not your business.

2. Shit happens. Judging by the divorce rate, it happens all the time.

3. He sure seems happy now, as does his lovely wife.

4. Mind your own damn business.

9. I found out some time ago that Elizabeth is his 3rd wife.
And it makes no difference whatsoever to me as to how qualified he is to be President.

He is very qualified, IMHO.

People are entitled to make mistakes, and to try again. I have no problem with divorce.

Getting a divorce doesn't mean you've broken your vows. It means that there's many problems in the relationship, and that this is the best way to handle it for all concerned.

YMMV...

I don't think its anybody's business. I don't criticize Gulliani for being married 3 times btw, but the way he left his second wife when she had cancer was pretty heartless.

20. That was Newt. Rudy is the one who moved his mistress into the
NY executive mansion while his wife and children were still there.

I know, I know. It's almost impossible for me to keep all these Family Values freaks straight, too.

12. Yep, I knew it. He has a daughter, too.
He also went off for quite a while a few decades ago, to New Mexico, to 'find himself' or some such. Back when that 'vision quest' shit was popular...Someone tried to kill him when he was mayor.

He's had an interesting life. I swear the reason he's so short is because he was malnourished as a kid. He sure knows what it's like to be homeless: http://www.boston.com/news/local/new_hampshire/articles/2007/08/15/kucinich_speaks_from_experience_on_homelessness/

It doesn't bother me personally. I just know that it's a major liability among conservative voters, so that's the only reason I ever mention it.

Ostensibly the party of "family values". One could argue 3 marraiges aren't typical of conservative family values. DK doesn't have to worry about that, because we liberals understand shit happens and life doesn't always turn out how you plan. sometimes divorces are necessary.

22. It matters in the general election. For one thing, both he and Ghouli
have identified as Roman Catholics. That's hard to square with the three marriages and two divorces.

And Catholics, who used to trend Democratic, swung to the Rethugs in the last two elections. Kucinich's divorces would be a hurdle, at least when he's portraying himself as Catholic.

23. There are many reasons why people "break vows." Many of them valid.
And it doesn't make them bad people. Sometimes folks have irreconcilable differences - it doesn't mean either partner was a bad person. Who are we to judge? Divorce is a bad thing that sometimes happens to good people.

I know in Rudy's case there was infidelity - with Kucinich, I have no idea what the circumstances were.

Either way, I'm not interested.

Certainly not from a political standpoint, and not from a personal one either.
