Who do you think the GOP wants Mitt Romney to run against?

Forget about the joke in the title of this thread, I'm interested here in knowing what the consensus here at DU is for the candidate the GOP would pick FOR us... who do they think they can beat?

Next up would be Kucinich.

Of course that's what they'd WANT, but they aren't going to have such an easy time of it, IF Romney goes the distance.

I'd imagine he's gearing for Hillary or Barack and thinks he could get them on the issues contrast (of course, he's a big ole flip flopper, that Mittsy). If it ended up Edwards, he'd try to whine about the 'trial lawyer' business.

I think he'd have the toughest time against Richardson--because Richardson can be a tough sumbitch who knows his shit down to the wonk level, and Romney, really, is an excessively fastidious fellow who truly does not know his ass from a hole in the ground. That contrast would be pretty stunning, I think.
