Ok my daughter wants to See Obama in SF next week, do you have to be at least a certain age to attend these things? She's 13. Please and thank you and i did look at his site but i can't find anything.

1. I wouldn't think so
Kerry came to South Florida in 2004 and I took my then 12 year old (as well as her 14 and 16 year old sisters) to see him speak. They were not even closest to the youngest people there. There were people with strollers and carrying little ones on their backs, along with toddlers up to younger teens.

4. ok thanks, she has to get out early from school and i don't want to do all
this and then get there and find she can't get in. She's going to write an essay on the experience and hopefully get some good pictures. Her school frowns on taking time off unless you're sick but her advisor said it would be ok if she did a report on it.

2. I should thnk that any age would be acceptable at an event...
but I would make sure there was an adult present, just in case, for some odd reason, there might be a problem.

Children and teens should have as much access as anyone else, besides, people LOVE kids to go to these things.

Hope she has a great time. No matter how Obama fares, she will remember going for the rest of her life...:woohoo:

7. Fantastic! I'm always glad to see youth getting involved...
hope you all have a great time!

I recall my first political event....ooh, it's a long time back...:) I met JFK in NYC when he swung through in 1960. Well, I got to shake hands with him, and he asked me how I was. He actually waited the few seconds to listen to my answer, then re-shook my hand and said he was glad to meet me. He was w/Jackie, and she shook my hand as well...both of them had great smiles. It has stayed w/me these 47 years....:D

FWIW, I was 8 at the time.

10. Not to sound like some kind of yahoo, but I've been a politcal
junkie ever since. I was galvanized.

When JFK was shot in Dallas, I recall sitting at my desk in school, when they rolled in a TV for us to watch the news as parents were being called to make sure kids could get home OK and not be at wits end when we got home...(like our parents were at wits end...my mother a devout R, cried her eyes out when she thought my brothers and I couldn't hear her).

Anyway, a girl behind me said, "I hope Jackie will be OK." Out of me came, "she'll be fine, I've met her." Then we all cried when we saw Cronkite tell us JFK was dead...Jesus, that was tough.

FWIW, I was 11 then; and it was the first and only time I can recall NYC being as quiet as the center of a wheat field somehwere in the Midwest. I can never forget either event.

But let me get out of this morose time....You and your daughter get out there and have a GREAT TIME!!!!...:woohoo:

3. I can't imagine that there would be an age limit.
Even at events that ask for a donation for admission (and I don't know if this one does), they generally let people under the age of 18 in for free.

11. Lots of kids in Portland
Some as young as 5 years old. Very much a family feel to the event. I'd definitely take her if she wants to go. Absolutely. Get there early!!
