Who else is undecided about their primary vote?
I am, though it doesn't matter, since I live in Oregon, and my vote won't count jack. But after reading many of the threads here today (where support of one candidate or another seems to be attached to the self-identity of a few posters just a wee bit much), it occurred to me that I am not the only one who is undecided. In fact, none of our close friends have aligned themselves with any camp very closely. It's possible that this is a result of the reality that our primary votes are meaningless, but even friends in other parts of the country seem to be waiting to figure out who to support.

So, I am wondering: Are there DUers out there who are not attached yet?

Cheers, everyone! Happy Friday!

2004 was easy for me - I'm an anti-corruption, open government Democrat who has wanted the books opened on BushInc for over twenty years.

Now I am facing the exact same machine that thought deep-sixing all the corriuption issues for Poppy Bush was a GREAT idea and that they'll do it again for Bush and Cheney.

How do you THINK that makes me feel?

2. me too.
I could have written your post, I'm in OR too.

I'm still waffling between Kucinich and Edwards, but like you say, it's not like my vote matters. :(

5. Well, at least you've got it down to two!
We've sent money to our preferred candidate the last couple of election cycles. But we're just not in any one camp, at this point, so we haven't yet done so. Maybe it's smarter to save it for the general election, anyway.

Cheers!

Happy Friday!

3. I have not decided
I am friends with a very small group of Dems who meet monthly to discuss politics. There is not a consensus candidate in that group either.

However, I can't blame him for staying out. The process is just friggin' brutal.

And why has our party fallen on such hard times, that we only have one candidate who can hold the banner, in your viewpoint?

i won't be voting for the 2 front runners, however . . . unless they end up being the general election candidate, of course. i'm just glad there's plenty of time to learn about the candidates so i can make an informed choice. i am leaning a little toward edwards but would like to find out more about biden and see if kucinich can hang in.

too bad steven colbert didn't make it on the ballot.

16. I think you're right.
I think it is a strong field. It's hard to remember that, though, if you spend too much time at DU, with everyone bashing the other candidates so hard.

32. In Which Our Strongest Candidate By Far Is the Unnamed Democrat
People want "a Democrat" in the White House by landslide margins.

Too bad none of our actual candidates poll anywhere near that well.

But otherwise, no reason not to wait, though I think one needs to be assessing the candidates along the way.

22. I will most likely pass up the primaries. The shit here at DU has really turned me off of this
election. Nothing of real substance here at all. Just a bunch of kids yelling back and forth. I'll vote for the Dem candidate for President but that's about it.

23. I hear you.
But there are more constructive venues out there. I haven't spent nearly as much time at DU the past couple years, as in the past. When I stopped by today and saw all the ugliness, I definitely soured on the whole process. I had to remind myself that it's just one website, with one set of angry people, letting the anonymity of the web give rise to their emotions. Somehow actuall thought gets lost in all that. It's sad, but the Internet isn't going away any time soon.

My vote won't matter because our primary is so late, but I'll vote in the primary because there will be local races of concern.

Cheers!

34. My vote won't count for much either,
since I'm also an Oregonian, but it's been determined since the candidates announced. I hoped that there would be a field that actually caused some delicious consternation in having to make a choice, but alas, no.

Nobody declared whose platform or record competes (on the issues that drive my vote) with the man who got my vote in '04, so I am again firmly behind Dennis Kucinich.

35. Me, I Go Back & Forth
I was holding out for my favorite man who already won once until it was yanked away by criminals & the media.

I did make a promise to not vote for anyone who voted for IWR. I have somewhat forgiven Edwards & Dodd, but still - how is it they were duped and I wasn't?

So that leaves Obama, Kucinich & Richardson.

Hillary will get my vote if she is the final nominee

36. Me, too. But it doesn't matter. It'll be decided by March, when our primary is.
I don't like ANY of them a lot. No one in the lineup gets me excited and overly hopeful.

I suppose I like Obama the best. I don't care for Clinton, but I don't hate her. Edwards makes me uneasy. But I think he may be the strongest one on the environment.

But none of them are outstanding at this point. Sigh. They're better than the Republican lineup, though, so there's that.
