Kucinich Writes to Conyers
November 9, 2007
The Honorable John Conyers, Jr.
Chairman
Committee on the Judiciary
2138 Rayburn HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Chairman Conyers

I am writing in support of H. Res. 799, the Articles of Impeachment which were referred to the committee relative to the Impeachment of the Vice President of the United States of America.

Recent reports indicate that the Vice President is attempting to shape the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran to conform to his misperceptions about the threat Iran actually poses. Much like his deceptive efforts in the lead up to the Iraq war, the Vice President appears to be manipulating intelligence to conform to his beliefs.

If the reports are true, they add additional weight to the case for impeachment. I believe impeachment remains the only tool Congress has to prevent a war in Iran. This information relates directly to the Article III charges in the resolution. I urge your timely consideration.

Sincerely,

/s/

Dennis J. Kucinich

Member of Congress

2. "Impeachment remains the only tool Congress has to prevent a war in Iran."
Conyers got all the documents regarding the Downing Street Memos, showing that the intelligence was made to fit Bush's Iraq policy. It would be criminal for Conyers to refuse to move for hearings on impeaching Cheney.

How many GIs will die because this Congress kept impeachment off the table?

14. I've noticed that PBS Newshour is no longer listing the dead soldiers..
for years now they have listed US soldiers on a daily or weekly basis. They just stopped.

5. Agreed, if each of us does our job to help him - 800 862 5530 - for congress
just call up your senator, rep , judiciary committee and
demand they have hearings on the impeachment of
Cheney.

one day's worth of calling is not going to do it.

every day all day next week and the week after.

6. On the news tonite, Cheney has been holding up NIE assessment of Iran threat for a year !
because its conclusions dont agree with his desire to bomb
Iran . Conclusions...IF Iran is working on nuclear they wont
have capability for a decade OR MORE
but there is no evidence they're working on nuclear bomb.

Interesting how our media had us hating this squirt
Ahmananijad and looking at him as a madman isnt it.

Did you know there is a law on the books prohibiting
The US from promoting propaganda in the US?

What Olbermann calls Fixed Noise. And does anyone prosecute?
what about Limbaugh - is that propaganda?
What about talking points originating from WH to media? is
that propaganda?

8. They are screwed.
No, I didn't know about that propaganda law. It's frustrating, to say the least, to realize just how corrupt our judicial system is. Tommy Chong, in the slammer. Limbaugh, spewing hate and lies.

They can't pull off the same stunt with Iran. The entire world would commence to riot. We were in the millions in February of 2003. I think that was the date. Millions, all over the world. It would be tenfold, if they pulled it off again.

It's maddening, I know. And there's the economy. We're entering a cross roads. War is going to be much more difficult to achieve for multiple reasons. Not the least of which is Russia.

Bless Dennis Kucinich.

9. Excellent, are we going to be willing to spend $100 billions...

on war with Iran, or shall we press for impeachment in order to stop it? How much will be left over to spend on Democratic social programs if we do nothing?

It's Pelosi and Hoyer he needs to convert!

It might be a good idea to write to the other members of the judiciary committee though.

11. It's a difficult challenge for Conyers, what with Nancy and Steny against it.
A show of solidarity behind Kucinich would allow Conyers' to act in a much more comfortable atmosphere. He needs our support.

12. No support for impeachment?
From The Nation:

http://www.thenation.com/blogs/thebeat?pid=248000

"A fresh poll conducted for Vermont's WCAX television station finds that citizens of that state enthusiastically believe that Congress beginning impeachment proceedings against President Bush.

Sixty-one percent of the Vermonters surveyed favor taking steps to impeach the president, while just 33% oppose doing so.

The numbers are even higher for impeaching Cheney. Sixty-four percent of Vermonters favor beginning the process of holding the vice president to account, where only 31 percent are opposed.

The greater level of support for impeaching Cheney parallels the few nationwide figures that have been ascertained. When the American Research Group conducted a national survey in early July of this year, it found that 54 percent of American adults wanted the House to begin impeachment proceedings against Cheney -- with 76 percent of Democrats, 51 percent of independents and a striking 17 percent of Republicans favoring the step.

Forty-six percent of Americans surveyed backed impeachment proceedings against Bush -- with support for impeachment at 69 percent among Democrats, 50 percent among independents and 13 percent among Republicans.

What is notable is that, when Time magazine surveyed Americans in the late spring of 1974, after the Watergate scandal had evolved into a full-scale crisis of confidence in Nixon's presidency, only 43 percent favored impeachment.

A media that actually had a sense of history, not to mention reality, would focus on the fact that Americans are more supportive of a congressional intervention to thwart Bush and Cheney's wrongdoing than they were of moves to hold Nixon to account just months before the former president resigned in disgrace.

Now, it falls to Kucinich to speak the reality that, "The momentum is building for impeachment. Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President's abuse of power."

Says the congressman, "Despite this groundswell of opposition to the unconstitutional conduct of office, Vice President Cheney continues to violate the U.S. Constitution by insisting the power of the executive branch is supreme... The Vice President continues to use his office to advocate for a continued occupation of Iraq and prod our nation into a belligerent stance against Iran. If the Vice President is successful, his actions will ensure decades of disastrous consequences."

Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment against Cheney several months ago, and his H. Res. 333 has attracted almost two dozen co-sponsors. All Democrats, they are Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Robert Brady (D-PA), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA), Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA), Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Rep. Henry Johnson (D-GA), Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-MI), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. James Moran (D-VA), Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY), Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA), Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) and Rep. Albert Wynn (D-MD)."

15. Newflash DC: "impeachment remains the only tool Congress has"
Full stop.

Not that the impeachophobic delusions of the beltway allow such a reality to be thought, let alone spoken. But that's literally the size of it. Everything else they prattle on about -- "ratcheting pressure," "cutting funding," legislating ... well, anything -- is just euphemistic, (hopefully) self-delusional babble.

Overrode that veto, huh? How likely do you suppose it is that the "Unitary" executive is allowing dollar one to anybody but a regime crony? The only beach likely to be saved from erosion is the one you can see from Trent Lott's porch.

Is it so hard to understand that a criminal regime laughs at new laws, and judges rulings, and human rights treaties, and the US Constitution?

Impeachment remains our ONLY moral, patriotic option.

...and got a new number...I'm not positive about that, though.
