As per youthere's request, I am starting a separate thread for those of you who feel John McCain responded unbecomingly when a woman in South Carolina asked him, point-blank, "How do we beat the bitch?" The term "bitch" referred to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY).

Apparently McCain has responded to this in a bass-akward fashion by complaining about CNN's coverage of the slur, rather than McCain's weak response to it. See the following story:

I implore you to be polite to any staffer answering the phone. They put up with all sorts of stress on a daily basis, and it's not their fault that McCain and that South Carolina woman behaved as they did.
