Obama responds to Clinton's response re: Novak.
Apologies if this has already been posted.

"The Clinton campaign has admitted that they do not possess the ‘scandalous information’ in question and we take them at their word," said David Plouffe, Obama's campaign manager in a statement on Saturday. "But what we don’t accept is their assertion that this is somehow falling for Republican tricks. This is exactly the kind of smear politics, Democrats need to fight back on, regardless of the source or the party. Democrats should know that when Barack Obama is their nominee, he will not allow the ‘Swift boat’ politics of fear and diversion to prevail in this campaign."

Clinton was foolish to respone in the way she did. She should have taken the higher ground against the Republicans instead of attacking a fellow Democrat.

12. Obama was ridiculous to attack Clinton.

What's the story?

Novak claims that Clinton has dirt on Obama, but she won't use it?

First --Novak makes an unsubstantiated claim that Clinton has dirt.

Second -- He then says she won't use it?

Even IF Clinton had something (which we don't know), the claim is she won't use it.

So Obama is attacking Clinton for NOT disclosing a scandal?

Do I have this right?

"I am profoundly and indubitably offended that Clinton had nothing to do with any dirt she was refusing to use on me to avoid an ugly attack she was not going to attack me with. I am profoundly offended and demand that Clinton stop respondng to me when I demand a response from her regarding an attack on me she is refusing to do. How dare she suggest that I am listening to republicans when I simply listened to a republican who said she was not going to attack me. That is the trouble with the Clinton politics."

Agreed, dirty tricks should not be tollerated by anyone. Being unable to identify what the dirty trick is, is just inexperienced and stoopid.

Are you making the same mistake as camp O by assuming Novak stating Clintons agents were spreading a rumor about a rumor is in fact anything but an unsubstantiated rumor? What leads you to trust Clinton did anything at all here, dirty or otherwise? Seriously.

of the sort (meant in a nuetral manner) that O was speaking to. Heck who isn't influenced by their own biases. I personally dislike an approach of feeding on an assumption/suspicion that she is guilty through buying into a RW rumor piece. O wants to send a message that he won't cow to the pitfalls of establishment and wants to cast her in that light. HRC wants to send a message that experience can protect her from a RW dispersion, and cast O out of that light. Guess they are both doing their jobs.

59. Please stop this. Everyone, go back to working hard for your Dem candidate.
This endless speculation will not get us anywhere but losing in 08. This is EXACTLY the kind of distraction that the Repubs want to see us be in. Novak is trying his hand again at being some kind of master player of politics in Washington. He's an old washed up pol. Forget him. Get on with whatever you can do for your candidate, which I hope and pray is a Democrat.

PLEEZE, folks! Only losers get distracted by this stuff.

Eyes on the prize!!!

72. Obama backs down...
Pretty lame

If it wasn't dirty tricks they could have asked in private if all they wanted was an assurance that it wasn't Hillary...gotten the assurance...then gone after the real target...Novak...and look like a hero to Democrats...now he looks like a hack just flinging mud everywhere to see if any sticks...

Amateur hour for the Obama campaign...
