Let's go through the list. We saw what was done to Kerry, whose strength against Bush was his military record, and look what was done to Joe Wilson for telling the truth!

So if Hillary, Obama, Edwards or Biden gets the nomination, we ought to be prepared to face a sneaky attack right on that candidate's most attractive and strongest card.

How do you see it happening to your favored candidate?

1. I think we're going to see some interesting legislation.

I would not be surprised at all to see a very environmentally friendly bill to show up.

One about taxation as well, one that isn't the obvious gift to the corporations as usual.

And the grand finale will be the one that the Republicans put up to bring troops home. When Democrats do it, the Reps won't vote on it. So it looks like the Dems are ineffective. When the Reps do it, they will vote for it, and the Dems will have to as well or be vilified.

That's my feeling on generic moves that will be made regardless of the choice.

But you're right, the tactics have worked in the past, and probably will again with a willing media.

3. That's another favorite tactic that predates Rove, but effective nonetheless.
It's one reason why Senators have such a hard time in presidential campaigns -- they have their past votes to defend, where governors pretty much slide on through.

The Rovian tactic is much more devious and perverse. Kerry fell into the trap by makinghis military service so central to his campaign. When the SB liars got through with him, Kerry was not to be trusted.

I can see Hillary being tied to the old "blame Clinton" for everything, mostly for 9/11 but also illegal immigrants. Edwards is interesting;his appeal is mainly on incomedisparity so I expect to see "betrayals" of ordinary Americans by something, somewhere in Edwards past. Obama will be made to look like a panderer. Biden, I don'tknow, but he is so strong on foreign affairs, look for that to be the area on which he will bemost viciously attacked.

Just my thinking this Sunday evening...

4. Obama's strength is opposing the Iraq war and the impending Iran war.
And he is attacked for it here daily a la Rove.

However, it will be his strength in the general. See my sig line.

5. Yup, it'll be thathe's a poor, naive boy suckered by thedespots in Iran...
I saw it done to Adlai Stevenson (when I was very young). You know, the "sell outs" to the Kremlin, etc. But that was before Rove and we had a Cold War and Kruschev had nukes and was a crazy man at times. I hate to say it, but having read recently a recount of the Cuban Missile Crisis, I have to say that I am glad JFK won the nom in 1960 and not Stevenson!

6. Like Obama said, you don't have to walk, talk & vote like Republicans to beat them.
