Edwards in Iowa with Bonnie Raitt & Jackson Browne
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 11:30 AM by cyberswede
John Edwards was in eastern Iowa yesterday with Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne.

Here are some local media stories:

Iowa City Press Citizen: http://www.press-citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071120/NEWS01/711200326/1079
Grammy Award-winning musicians Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne took the stage in Iowa City on Monday night and sang songs inspired by patriotism and their presidential candidate of choice -- Democrat John Edwards.

"We had a choice of who to throw our guitars behind, and we chose John Edwards," Raitt said to an overflowing auditorium of more than 800 people in City High. Raitt said she admired Edwards' progressiveness and stance on many issues and thought he had the "stuff to follow through."

On a day when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were in central Iowa arguing over who would be more experienced on the economy, John Edwards brought a pair of near-60 rock ’n’ rollers to Davenport on Monday, arguing he’s the real agent for change.

from Edwards' voting record:
http://votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=21107

02/02/2000 Bankruptcy Reform bill - Voted Y
11/19/2002 Homeland Security Act of 2002 - Voted Y
05/21/2004 Condemning Iraq Abuse of Prisoners resolution - DID NOT VOTE
10/11/2002 Use of Military Force Against Iraq - Voted Y
10/06/2004 National Intelligence Reform Act of 2004 - DID NOT VOTE
10/25/2001 USA Patriot Act of 2001 - Voted Y

09/16/2003 FCC Media Ownership bill - DID NOT VOTE
09/19/2000 U.S.-China Relations Act of 2000 - Voted Y

Why should Progressive Democrats have to COMPROMISE?

While you want to "take America back," Mr. Haircut will be giving it away again right from under your nose.

8. Re: Saw the show - Bonnie rocked the house & then Edwards rocked

Saw the show in Cedar Rapids at Sinclair Auditorium on Coe College campus. Full house. We were up in the balcony, it was nearly full and the main floor was full. Sheriff Zeller introduces Jackson Browne. He does a antiwar number and then introduces Bonnie Raitt. They do two numbers together and then the roadies hand her the electric guitar . . . and she blows the roof off the place!!!

Then Bonnie introduces John Edwards and he comes out and rocks the crowd with his "you got the power - take the power back from the big corporations" speech. John spoke about 15 - 20 minutes and then threw it open for questions. A couple of the questions were convoluted enough to make me wish that Edwards planted questions like Hillary. Then John asked Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt out to do a closing number.

Took my son (home from college for Thanksgiving) and my youngest daughter who will be 18 in June. He was leaning Obama and is now undecided again between Edwards and Obama. My daughter, like me, thinks John Edwards is the guy we need to fix this mess.

Very fun and high energy night!
