Congratulations PM elect Kevin Rudd!
Congratulations to the Labor Party of Australia and to Maxine McKew who beat Howard in Bennelong! Labor won decisively tonight. Let's hope we follow suit next year.

1. Congrats Kevin!
and to my fellow Aussies. We did it! I'm shaking with happiness. This is incredible.

One of the greatest moments in Australia's history.

I've been waiting for this moment for so many years! The rodent = slaughtered.

 :toast:

8. Congrats also but....
...does Labor has anything like the "Blue Dogs" that currently infest the Democratic party. If so, how many (and can the Greens neutralize their power now).

9. yes, and Rudd, as I understand it,
is more of a centrist than anything else. Still, I believe he has promised to withdraw Aussie troops from Iraq, and he won't cater to bushco in the same way. Plus, Labor is not in denial bout climate change.

11. One question
I noticed that the Liberal/National coalition held the Senate, how much power does the Aussie Senate have?

12. the Senate reviews
legislation that comes to it from the government which is formed in the House of Representatives. They can block legislation if they so choose, or add amendments etc.

Feels good down here tonight people. Your turn next year.

Peace
