No, wait... that's Obama.

Okay, you've gotten your obligatory slam in.

Now, how about discussing the specific claims made in this article?

Debunked by who, yourself? MotherJones article is credible, how long have they been around?. Have not seen anywhere where the article is not true. If you have proof it is not, some links would be helpful.

29. Please show us where it's been debunked.
Just because you say it's so doesn't make it so. It's very inconvenient information, isn't it?

This article has come up many times around here over the last few months, and it's met with sneering and ridicule of the individuals who bring it up, but even with all the effort that's been spent to find grounds upon which to dismiss it, nothing seems to come up.

Yet you say it's been debunked many, many times. Please show a few.

Personally, I take this very seriously; it follows the Clinton pattern: play it safe, cover one's bases and make unholy alliances, living up to the bargains or not as it suits them when the time comes. Does she really believe this, or is she just playing a game with faith? Which is worse? They're both pretty nasty.

She takes money from from very nasty sources; is she going to give them the favors they expect, or is she going to welch on the deal? Why are they so disliked from so many directions? This kind of thing is a very large part of it.

Enough of the pattern, though, where has this story been discredited? If it's been done so so very many times, examples should be easy to find.

32. Debunked???? many times?????
I remember unsupported denial, rhetoric, hyperbole, ad hominums, snark, and adolescent insults from the Hill Hit Squad....but no actual "debunking" of the facts contained in this story from MotherJones.

Please help me out by posting a link to an actual "debunking" of these facts.
Thanks.

That counts as debunking, I guess.

7. again with this crap? ohmygod?
Do you seriously believe that she is part of a vast religious zealot organization to bring down the world? What pray-tell are you smoking?

She belongs to a senate prayer group that includes numerous senators including Clinton, and Edwards when he was a senator. They are many different dominations.

Good god. This is getting worse and worse. Who needs the neo-cons? We can shoot ourselves in the foot.

You still haven't answered the questions, debunked by who, is the article true or false?

30. Already told you, you brought up the subject in a thread of yours that
got locked where you posted a link to another duer which is against the rules. You commented on this subject matter, not my post in another thread this morning. So, since the subject has been brought up by you Hillary supporters, here we are. As the other posted said, why don't you comment on the article rather than attacking those where you don't like the subject matter.

As for the debunking, I see what you are talking about, it was another poster that said it was debunked not you. My apologies on that.

24. I note that there hasn't been a reply of substance on this
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 10:06 AM by Armstead
Rather than cheap shots, I would really like to see some actual defending or explaining of Hillary in terms of the claims made in this article -- including her own damn quotes in it.

Excerpt"

"...Under Jones' mentorship, Clinton learned about Reinhold Niebuhr and Paul Tillich—thinkers whom liberals consider their own, but whom young Hillary Rodham encountered as theological conservatives. The Niebuhr she studied was a cold warrior, dismissive of the progressive politics of his earlier writing. "He'd thought that once we were unionized, the kingdom of God would be ushered in," Jones explains. "But the effect of those two world wars and the violence that they produced shook his faith in liberal theology. He came to believe that the achievement of justice meant a clear understanding of the limitations of the human condition." Tillich, whose sermon on grace Clinton turned to during the Lewinsky scandal, today enjoys a following among conservatives for revising the social gospel—the notion that Christians are to improve humanity's lot here on earth by fighting poverty, inequality, and exploitation—to emphasize individual redemption instead of activism.

Two decades later, while Bill was campaigning for president, Clinton picked up that theme once more, displaying a theological depth that conservative believers could appreciate. In an interview with the United Methodist Reporter, she expressed regret that her church had focused too much on social gospel concerns in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, "to the exclusion of personal faith and growth." The spirit, believe theological conservatives, matters more than the flesh. Clinton added that she was happy to see her liberal denomination becoming more salvation centered in the '90s...."

Any comments?

Why can't they all just check it at the door? Shilling for the faithful is just so darn tawdry - the absolute lowest form of politics...

Up here in the frozen North we have a Prime Minister who actually IS a Domionionist Cult Member - it ain't that pretty at all, let me tell you.

But it ain't gonna happen anytime soon, least not in the Red States. I wish we lived in a country where I had no idea what religion, if any, my elected leaders were but that just isn't the case here.
