GD-P is like "Days of Our Lives" ...
You can stop watching for weeks, months, even years and when you turn it back on .... it's the same story.

I just got back from NYC for T-Day weekend.

I need to get caught up .... what did I miss?

Oh, I see. Same thing.

Well, let me go and fast forward my DVR recording of "Days" .... that should take about 10 mins.

1. Apparently Bo Brady asked Stefano Di Mera to be his running mate
And all the Kate Roberts fans are trying to milk it for all they can.

2. Welcome back. Even though it's the same, it's not the same without you.

4. Do tell
I wouldn't know, I haven't watched a soap opera in 30 yrs, since my college days.

Some of the arguments seem to get a little repetitive, I agree. There's more focus on the "horse-race" aspect, but still good discussion of policy and issues. The troll count seems a little higher.

All in all, I'm sure its better than any discussion in a GOP forum.

5. "Days of Our Lives"
I can't believe that's still around. My mother used to watch it in the '50s.

6. Your mom must have had a great TV set.
"Days" didn't come on the air until 1965!

:silly:

7. Okay, 60s then
:dunce:

My uncle was a TV repairman and when his customers didn't pay he brought over the set until he could sell it. My mother didn't get her own until the 70s. She didn't have a phone, either. God, what a different world we live in.

8. "Like sands through the hourglass"
so go the days of our lives"
Does it still start like that?

Hourglasses have always held a fascination for me, ever since "The Wizard of Oz"

15. So ARE the days of our lives
Yeah I like hourglasses too. And it was the "Wiz o' Oz" for me as well.

12. Sami and Lucas named the girl twin Alice Caroline, "Ally".
Hope spilt the beans about Phillip and Belle to Marlena. There is a mysterious woman in widow's weeds at St. Luke's for Shawn and Belle's wedding.

I want Brady and the old Shawn back, Mimi and her brothers and mother, too! What happened to the Deveraux family? Kayla and Patch thinking of having a kid. Not enough Stefano for my taste. Not enough Tony either. Still can't believe John Black is "really" dead.

Kate is in deep doodoo with Roman et al.

16. Yup John is dead, dead, DEAD!
The actor playing him is on another show.

Rummor has it that NBC is going to pull the plug on the show by end of 2008.

14. Days... *sigh*
I watched Days religiously in college, starting when Marlena was possessed back in the mid-90s. I was addicted for a while, but the stories just never seemed to end. You're right, you can stop watching for weeks, months, or years, and come back and it's the same thing.

There were three events that happened around the same time in the late 90s that made me stop watching Days forever:

1. Eileen Davidson left the show (sorry, but I loved the storyline where Kristen turned evil and Eileen was playing all those different characters).
2. The never-ending Hope Brady/Princess Gina storyline (seriously, who gave a damn?). I still don't know how that turned out, nor do I care...
3. Carrie Brady and Mike Horton riding off on horseback into the sunset together (what a cheesy and stupid fairy tale ending...plus, I was hoping she would get back together with Austin).

And I think you're right that GDP has turned a bit of a soap opera-like as of late. But I still can't help watching...and occasionally contributing.
