1. I think it's cyclical
Obama one week, then Edwards, then Hillary, etc.

61. Indeed
I don't bash candidates. I might be critical, but not bash.

I mean in GD:P the candidate bashing is akin to the cyclical nature of GD with smoking, circumcision, breast feeding, etc. Hopefully, once the nominee is announced, all this will settle down.

Reason enough to keep bashing him for years, or until he apologizes to the GLBT commumity.

No progressively minded person should support him until he does. Only Homophobes can support him until then.

in San Francisco while he was there.

Look, I'm not begrudging anyone for being hurt and pissed about McClurkin. It was NOT his campaign's finest hour--it may have been its worst.

But, statements like "if you support Obama, you're not progressive and you support homophobia" are silly hyperbole and nothing but fodder for flamewars.

since the whole McClurkin fiasco? Regardless of whether he deserved to lose support, the data shows that he in fact did not lose support, but rather has picked up support since mid-October.

Obviously, if the DU LGBT folks were representative of LGBT folks everywhere, there would be large protests surrounding his campaign headquarters in various cities.

The "It's CULTURAL" posts.

I don't buy that, either.

I have to say I was very disappointed by that McClurkin business. At first I was disbelieving--I really thought it was just a campaign mistake, and he'd dump the guy, and all would be well. But when he tried to split the difference (Let me snuggle up to the hater while hating his hate) I realized he was just attempting to have it both ways.

It really turned me off to his campaign. I've got gay cousins--they aren't "less than."

my family is "evil" crosses the line for me.

Touting Tom Coburn, the biggest homophobe in the senate, as a "good" man who he can work with damages my family. Anyone who gives props to the likes of Tom Coburn and James Inhofe indirectly attacks my family.

Additionally, there are millions of gay teens out there who have been greatly damaged by the McCLurkins of the world and their ilk. Obama does not seem to even remotely get that.

And it appears some people really don't like that.

That said, I understand why the GLBT folks are mad at him. I can't say I'm happy about the Donnie McClurkin thing either.

Actually, I have the same question about the Kucinich bashing, which all seems to come from a questionable quote in a known anti-Kucinich newspaper. Or more specifically, not even the paper itself, but a blog site affiliated with it.

The only reason I could guess for that escalation would be a "check in thread" from yesterday which would indicate that Dennis is far more popular than some would like to believe. And for the good of this nation, I certainly hope that proves true.

The one candidate I've seen bashed ad nauseam from the left (she's Bush-light), from the right (she's a Marxist, a communist AND a fascist) is Hillary. 81. I've made a conscious effort to bash Obama
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 02:27 AM by Tactical Progressive
DU has been letting posters vent their seething hatred of Hillary with vile, snide and dishonest remarks all year and we serious Dems just let it slide, like adults letting nasty children throw a year-long tantrum. I just had enough.

Now, I'm probably not going to call Michelle Obama a "lying bitch" or a "cold-hearted whore", or Barack a "disgusting two-faced weasel" or an "evil backstabbing warmonger" or any of the other charming remarks that Obama's more venal supporters put on DU thousands of times a day.

Though I might. What I will certainly do though is stop letting his and his supporters crap slide. He's a weak, pandering, inexperienced and untrustworthy candidate who can't do much more than deliver an occasional good speech. It was obvious that he needed to grow up some from the start. I think after seeing him in action, that he needs to grow up alot.

As to Obama's supporters, they've been dishing it for a year. I'm guessing they're not going to like it as more Hillary supporters stop turning the other cheek. The bigger the bully, the bigger the baby. If Obama got even one-tenth the vitriol that Hillary gets, they'd be whining nonstop.

85. Hillary supporters have never "turned the other cheek". Many have started the nastiness here.
Many supporters of our "alleged" frontronner are very nice posters, but some are among the most vicious and venomous I have ever seen on DU.I have never seen that level of venom from the followers of Obama.I am sure that some Obama fans have been less than flattering to the "alleged"front runner but I have not yet seen any rise to the level of invective of some of the Hillary supporters. But that is JMHO.

88. One person's "bashing" is another person's "serious question."
But I do agree, Obama has had his share of "serious questions" the last few days.
