Some things I have not done since Idiot George stole office...
- flown the American flag at my house. Wait, I did fly it upside down for a few weeks after the "selection."

- bought a new car. Ours are getting pretty long in the tooth, but I refuse to give him that bump on the economic indicators.

- had any kids (all of mine were born during The Clinton Years).

- bought a house (the two houses I bought were during, you guessed it, The Clinton Years).

Pretty weird, huh?

I guess I'm just waiting for this inbred fuckstick to haul his Harvard/Yale preppy ass back to his pathetic movie set "ranch" and then I can start living the good life again.

1. I had to buy a car
because my old truck was old enough to vote and too much was going wrong with it after I'd driven it across the country and back when my mother died.

I've had to replace a lot of stuff lately because the house was burgled. It's annoying, but at least the insurance paid for all but the sentimental stuff.

Things I am doing involve assembling a paper trail that will be necessary for when I leave this country. Oh, Stupid isn't the only reason, nor is the cancellation of the Bill of Rights by the proposed HR 1959, which is likely to be quietly shoved through by the GOP and their Blue Dog pets. The reason is that I have given up hope that this country will ever deal with us fairly when it comes to health care. 20 years as an uninsurable nonperson are enough.

I am therefore not putting in any of the money I inherited into anything I'll have to move except myself and enough clothing to keep me from being arrested for indecent exposure. I'm giving most of my stuff to charity and some to friends. I will probably keep the house, holding out hope that a peaceful revolution ensues once again and that I can return some day, but I'm not betting my life on it any longer.

It's a hard thing to admit, this loss of hope in my country, but their lack of faith with we the people in health care is just a symptom of what they've become: not our protector against the rich and powerful, but their ally and our enemy.

2. not weird at all
I had considered taking a leave of absence for a while and going into the Peace Corps. However, I refuse to do any public service like that while junior is in office.

3. I gave this a K&R because I want it to get to the Greatest so more
can contemplate their current status. You surely engaged my mind and like you, our situation is not nearly as good.

4. In 2002 or 2003 I vowed not to buy
a new car until Bush is out of the WH. I am still driving my 1993 Integra and my hubby is driving his 2001 Outback still. God, I want that man and his people gone from our gov't!

5. My old Subaru rattles like a tin can with a marble in it, but I refuse to buy anything while this
jerk is in office. In the interest of full disclosure, I did by tires after I got two flats at the same time.

6. Same here.
I bought my Corolla in June 2000, and I will not buy another car until after * is out of office. Also, I'm just now getting to the point where buying a house is in my near future (I'm 32), but I'll wait until after * is out of office to make that purchase. I'm with you, I don't want to give him that "bump."

:hi:

7. I bought a house. But...
Edited on Tue Nov-27-07 11:12 AM by ThoughtCriminal
I was trading down to a smaller house to eliminate having a mortgage.

I don't think the country will ever return to normal - the damage is far to severe.

I'll add that my 95 Nissan PU is running great.

9. Haven't been invited to White House Christmas party
I'm looking forward to that again.

I also haven't flown the flag but that's only been since we invaded Iraq.

10. Pretty frightening, actually.
My car is just about worn out but I have been holding out on another one for the same reason as you.

I don't smile as much anymore.

Things I STARTED doing since Commander Asshat seized power in no particular order:

Pay down as much debt as possible

Stockpile necessities

Grow food and can it

Get involved in local politics

Call & write to my members of Congress

Write letters to the editor

Switched from Independent to Registered Democrat

Pay attention

Research expatriation

11. Heck, I couldn't *afford* any of that stuff!
Well, maybe I could afford to fly a flag, but I'm constitutionally incapable of it. New house/new car? I'll be lucky if I can afford either before I die. My personal economy tanked when the general one did. Some of it was because of my own poor planning, some due to medical catastrophe.

I wish I could see some economic upturn in the future, but I fear Bu$h has gotten us all FUBAR.

13. Haven't flown the flag, sang the anthem, or recited the pledge.
I actually stopped reciting the pledge years ago but until the bushco coup I did the other things with pride.

Not anymore.

14. I have always had...
a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address on a wall somewhere in my house-along with military photos of myself and other family members that have proudly served. Once we invaded Iraq-I took them off the wall and packed them away. Even when I was in college, those things were on my walls. I consciously, deliberately took them down

I have become more radicalized. I use to make most of the elections-now...I don't miss an election-even if it is for dog catcher.

If someone tells me he is a GOP running for office-he has to work 4 times harder to get me to even look at him.

I call people's bull shit quicker and firmer than I use to and I am sometimes not as polite about it as I use to be.

I carry impeach Bush Cheney stickers in my wallet to hand out and a red marker in my purse. I have been known to do the euro no in red on 2004 Bush Cheney stickers.

I go into book stores and turn the RW pundits books back wards, replace them with Dem Readings, and have been known to totally hide Ann Colter's latest trash in odd places.

I donate more to DEM candidates.

I go to church and pray more (first for may sinful thoughts of wishing total ill against our leaders-I gave up praying for wisdom for them a long time ago-they wouldn't use it anyway). I also pray for healing and forgiveness.

15. my kids want to leave the country.
Two out of three do, anyway (they are 24 and 33). One wants to live in France; she has already spent several three-month stints there (she is a translator). The other wants to go to Canada, where the laws are much more family-friendly. Will probably do so within the next several years, as soon as she can get certified to work there. I say go for it--this country is no great shakes anymore. We are one of the last countries on earth not to ban cancer-causing chemicals like phthalates. Is this any place to raise a child?
