Edwards adds Obama to his list of "corporate" Dems same as Reps
I'm not sure if this is new exactly, but it's the first time I'm noticing it.

A crowd of about 150 people turned out to hear him speak in the student center of Daniel Webster College.

"They are pushing exactly the same agenda," he said as he referred to Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. "Does anybody really believe that if we trade a crowd of corporate Republicans for corporate Democrats that there's going to be big change in Washington? It's a lie," he said.

1. That's what CBN says he meant.
For some reason, I don't trust CBN's reporting.

2. It's got quotations around it
If he said it we'd have to think he meant it. Perhaps there was other press present who will confirm the quote.

3. "They" seems to mean corporate Dems and corporate Reps.
Edwards has said that he and Obama are much closer than either is to Clinton.

7. The reporter says "they" refers to Obama and Clinton...
...so it is not odd that one would read the quote that way. However the actual quote can be read both ways. Like many things, it comes down to the quality of reporting, and actual context.

8. The "reporter" also works for a "news" agency which believes that the world is only 6000 years old
and women were divinely created from the rib bone of the first man.

4. Suspiciously, there is no quote that mentions Obama, but thanks for spreading the CBN talking point

11. The media is a big indication.
To me Obama is the back-up candidate to Hillary should Hillary slip. They are both getting a free ride. Compare this to Howard Dean being hammered on during this same time before Iowa in 2004. The media does not see Obama as a threat or he would take the same hammering as Dean.

They can get away with ignoring Edwards currently without needing to hammer on him, but I'll bet you any money if he is running in first either through polls or the first votes are cast you can bet he won't have a free ride you see today from the name recognized leader we see today.

12. Edwards had a free ride in Iowa in 2004
Literally 100% positive press leading into the caucus, while Dean had mostly negative press as you point out. If Edwards should somehow regain that media favor in time, and the local press turn on Clinton and Obama, and that's always possible, he surely can win Iowa. This is something we can't know this early.

14. Edwards is sounding more and more like Nader.
OK, John - there's no difference between Democrats and Republicans. :sarcasm:
