Biden calls on Bush to go to Israel
By Ian Swanson| Posted: 11/27/07 10:38 a.m.
November 27, 2007
Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) has called on President Bush to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories as a way to provide the sustained leadership necessary to make progress toward a Middle East peace settlement.

Biden, a long-shot Democratic presidential candidate who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made the comments in a statement released on the eve of a Middle East peace conference that began Tuesday in Annapolis.

“It is not enough to hold a conference or give a speech and then drop the issue for months on end,” Biden said. “The peace process requires day-in, day-out engagement, starting with the president.”

He noted that Bush has not visited Israel during his more than six years in office. If he makes his first trip to that country and the Palestinian territories, said Biden, “he can play a more informed and active role in pushing the process forward.”

Good article, but I really HATE it when they label Joe as a "long shot". I hope they all choke on their words....

2. Oh, I wish he wouldn't say things like that.
I mean Bush doesn't go places where he could get shot, but I don't want him even considering it. We're going to have enough of a mess to clean up.

3. Whenever you want to exacerbate a conflict
send president Bush.

So much for Hairplug's expertise on foreign affairs.

He never got the Iraq conflict and his redeployment measures are just as fucking stupid as staying in Iraq. Then again, for a guy who's supposed to be a foreign policy expert he never answered why he would authorize Bush to invade Iraq knowing full well Iraq didn't have WMDs either.

Sending an American president to deal with the Isreal/Palestine mess is not a good idea either. We have a history of playing both sides of the fence in that conflict as well as noted by Behr.

5. Send Him There to Live Permanently
Send Pickles and his crew there too. Babs and Jenna will party galore.

Let him live with his daily indecisions.

7. I don't think Biden is actually encouraging Idiot George to go to Israel.
I think he is pointing out (in a very clever way) that he *hasn't* been there.

8. I agree
I'm so tired of having the race decided by the media before one vote has been cast. I'm not even sure who I'm voting for yet, but damn! I want a chance to actually do so and have it matter!

9. Bush hasn't been to Israel because he his clueless as to what his
actions/words should be. Joe is showing what a real foreign relations expert would do in such a situation. You have dialogue. Bush is a babe in the woods, he should send the Senator to Israel if he wants a productive process to take place.
