Listen, Joe Biden is my number one candidate. I am new here, but have noticed the overwhelming majority of support seems to be in Biden's favor... could this be a sign?

I have had a strong feeling he will do great in Iowa, and still has a shot. I hope so. But what do you guys think?

The board is divided between more than a few candidates but most of us are probably still in the process of assessing strengths.

Stick around, but be warned ...This place is addictive!

I'm voting for Kucinich in the primary, and for whoever is our nominee in the general...

8. Hi!
Nope, this board is not largely for Biden - by any means! Hang around, you'll see. :7

We Bidenites of course believe he'll do strongly in Iowa - we love the guy! We're ever hopeful and welcome your enthusiasm, too. Please come on by the Biden Support Group forum if you're so inclined - link is on the front page of DU.

Welcome to DU! Glad you're here! :hi:

9. Welcome to DU!
Enjoy your time here. There are numerous supporters for ALL candidates on this board. At any given time, you might see the front page posts majorly tilting to Biden one minute, Hillary the next, Edwards the next, etc. It's a widely fluctuating group and very fast-paced. Settle in, have some coffee, and read up..:toast:

As for Biden, he's my third choice...second wavers from Kucinich to Edwards to Richardson on an hourly basis with Obama firmly my first choice.

I don't think Biden will get more than 10% in most caucuses in Iowa, hence Biden supporters' second choice will be more important.

16. Kucinich wins the polls here. Edwards does well. Biden is just surging because
some people are just finding out about him. He may not be my guy but, simply put, he has experience that rivals Richardson or Clinton, and speaking skills that rival Obama and Edwards. Foriegn leader call Biden, not Bush or Rice. Another bonus is that he is in the best position to pick an interesting VP like Obama, Richardson or Gov Sebelius of KS or Gov Schweitzer of MT. Obama or Hillary would probably be pressured to have a "safe" white male, Edwards needs someone with percieved experience. A new ARG poll has Biden passing Richardson and moving into 4th in IA.

All the Dem candidates have goods and bads, and fans and haters here.

Edited on Fri Nov-30-07 08:25 PM by higher class
going to lead an impeachment affront on George if Dick and George bomb Iran without Congressional approval? Let's see about that.

I watched him for too many years on all the Sunday shows. Not impressed except by a nice little sense of humor and a smile to go with it. Not enough for me. Milquetoast. Looks and charm don't make a President except in the Republican party.

I hear the word bankrupt and I think of Biden.

I think of the invasion of Iraq and I think of Biden.

I think of the Patriot Act and I think of Biden.

I think about the election thefts and obstructions and I remember that he has done nothing.

18. I'm working on convincing people to take a good look at Joe.
For one, he's a lot easier to listen to than the top three, as they've said the same old, same old over and over again. Joe visits with you, whether it's 5 or 50 people and I think people can relate to him more easily.

I strongly believe he has what we need to hit the ground running. I hope he will be able to bite back when he gets nipped by the Repigs.

I think I swayed a couple more people today. Little by little, he is moving up.

Go, Joe!

Yes, it is true that Biden does not finish in the top three when DU polls are conducted. However, recently a poll was taken where members were asked to pick their top three in order of preference. Biden finished well ahead of all other candidates. This indicates that he has broad support (from those that participated) as either their second or third choice. I could direct you that poll if you would like.

While we are a small group of supporters, we are strong believers in what Joe Biden stands for. For me, he is the right person at the right time.

I think you will find that Biden supporters are the most respectful of other people's views and choices for the nomination. I hope that you will join us in the Joe Biden Support group. Also, I would be more than happy to provide you (or anyone else) with any information you might need to learn more about this remarkable American.

53. Hi Blue, maybe you should read Edwards healthcare plan...
Edited on Sat Dec-01-07 01:32 AM by 1corona4u
all the way through...that might just put you firmly in the Biden camp. Here's a snip;

"...Edwards' truly universal health care plan will ensure that every American has health insurance. He will require proof of insurance when income taxes are paid and when health care is provided. Families without insurance will be enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP or another targeted plan or be assigned a plan within new Health Care Markets.

Families who lose coverage will be expected to enroll in another plan or be assigned one. For the few people who refuse to pay, the government will help collect back premiums with interest and collection costs by using tools like the ones it uses for student loans and taxes, including collection agencies and wage garnishment."

I'm not ok with the "wage garnishment", since I am self employed......and I really do not like paying that when I pay my taxes. It should be totally separated. As in, you enroll, you pay, end of story.

52. Phillyliberal, you've come to a good place!
Actually, it's your place, since you started this thread. Thanks for having us over. There are a lot of Biden supporters here, and we're pretty passionate. Many have divided loyalties, but I have faith that they'll end up falling in with the Bidenite crowd.

I originally didn't start out supporting Joe, but then I didn't start out supporting anyone. As I was going through the process of weighing the pros and cons of each candidate Sen. Biden came out on top. I couldn't make myself switch to another candidate now because it's so clear to me the this guy has the skills our country so sorely needs at this juncture. Our ship is sinking and we need a captain who can repair it and change its course. Biden has the skill, the passion, the intelligence, the grit, and the personality to win big in the general election and do a great job as president. I believe that he'd be to the Democrats what Reagan was/is to the Repubs.

I hope the strong support you're seeing here is a sign. There are actually a lot of positive signs that the good senator is gaining traction. We all have to contribute what we can afford to his campaign because he's up against some well-connected politicians. Anyway, welcome to your party!

Not all that long ago any Biden threads you saw were posted by DUers just looking to give exposure to his candidacy because he was a candidate. But genuine Biden support has built and built since the first few stalwarts came onboard. So you will be comfortable among like minds and some very nice people.
