I like Barack, he's a little inexperienced, but he's inspired and inspirational, and I like that. I think he would do fine.
I like Edwards, I'm a little concerned about how he stood down after the last questionable election, but that might have been John Kerry's call. Nevertheless, from a strategic point of view, he's chosen to pursue public election financing, and I think that's a mistake. It's very noble, yes, but that limits him to $38 million whereas the other side will be free to spend $200 million. I'll all for public funding, but it only really works when both sides are doing it. Otherwise, one side is hamstrung. That's a tactical error he made that I don't think we can afford to take right now. The stakes are too high. I applaud his intentions, but not his decision.
Kucinich - I'm not sure what to do with the guy. He almost perfectly embraces the Democratic ideals, and continues to surprise me. Electable? He's been marginalized for so long, it's hard to say. He might be the best in ideals, but I don't know if we can get him into office or not.
Clinton - everyone seems "afraid" to go with her, fearing we'll back to the nasty media environment of the 90's, but frankly Hillary and Bill know more about this whole nasty political process than anyone, they've been through the worse, and if they're not afraid to go back in swinging, I think she's what we need. They know the government from both the White House perspective, the Governor's perspective, and the Senate's perspective. They have a zillion connections, and have learned what the other side is capable of and how to fight back. Probably any of the candidates would make a fine President, but I think only the Clinton team can definitely pull it off. Expect 4, preferably 8, more years of Rush foaming at the mouth, but it's a small price to pay. Bill wasn't a perfect person, but he was a great President with the people, and policy and in execution of that policy. I wasn't electing a Pope - Bill wants to get laid in his spare time, that's between him and Hillary and whoever else. I did elect a President, and Bill was up until 3 in the morning reading news, policy, researching, everything. I suspect Hillary will deliver none less, and she can have Bill helping her out. They have a wealth of knowledge. I think this scares the shit out of the GOP. I don't think we'll be disappointed one bit, and I think they have the stature to repair our relations with the rest of the world and show them that America is back again. The Bush years were a cancer that needs to be excised. Hill and Bill can put us back, and they'll be comforting to the rest of the world.
Some criticize Hillary for her "plan" regarding Iraq, but the truth is that Bush has placed us in a position where there are no good decisions left. All we can do is pick the least of the worst of the bad decisions. And the GOP has the nerve for saying we don't have a solution for the impossible situation they created, like it's OUR fault. The important point is that if we were in office we wouldn't be here in the first place. This doesn't make GOP the better leaders because we don't have the solution, we're the better leaders because we would have had the prescience not to get into this damn situation to begin with.
