If the California Initiative pases and it turns out we elect another president...

who loses the popular vote, do you think that would finally raise the ire of people in our country... Or would they just roll over and let the christian fundie fascists take over for good... Or do you think they will shrug it off and get ready for another Super Bowl... Watch the fancy money tickers on CNBC... And just let it all end... Some people say the world will end with a big bang... I wonder if countries can fail because the people just don't know what they have... And just let I....t.... f....a......d..........e a.............w...............................a...............................y...

2. I think they would

roll over. Unless they felt the election would have an impact on their lives personally then they'd just buy beer and chips and watch TV. PErhaps that is why BushCo was so emphatic about the tax cuts. If people thought they were paying less taxes they wouldn't pay that much attention to the crimes being committed. Seems like it's worked pretty well for BushCo on this. Mz Pip :dem:

3. Yes, countries can fail because people just don't know what they have...

I would hope ours would not... I do think that the good people in our country would finally raise the alarm, and that the outcome would be different than it has in the past two elections... I'm hoping anyway... I don't really know, though... Your scenario scares me...

A story: Early in the War Between the States, General Lee was having a meeting with Jefferson Davis at the Confederate White House. Davis asked Lee what his plan was if Richmond should fall. "Richmond must not fall," Lee flatly asserted. That was the plan. California must have a winner take all slate next year. No "if" plans.

5. Initiative withdrawn?

I read on one of the left leaning blogs that the California Secratary of State website says the initiative has been withdrawn. And someone caught some of the initiative backers cheating signatures. Seems to me that is what I read, but what do I know?

Then they'll be going "why didn't anyone tell us about all of this?" When that day comes (and it will) hopefully there'll be enough Mme Defarges out there to point the finger squarely at the corporate media- and NOT just the faces on TV.
