She got Obama to hold her knitting!!!!
I posted this in Crafts, but this is just too awesome not to share here.

http://stringativity.blogspot.com/2007/12/yarn-harlot-ness.html

The Yarn Harlot (hugely popular knitblogger) started a thing on her blog to get people to hold her travel knitting, a sock on double-pointed needles. She's had all sorts of people hold a sock-in-progress, and now it's become a knitblogger thing. Anyway . . . Tracy got Obama to hold her knitting for a picture!! How freakin' awesome is that!!

I'm squeeeing over here! I think we need to make it our mission to get all of the Dem candidates to hold knitting for photo ops. I'm bummed I never thought of it before, and now no one's campaigning in Michigan (except the Republicans who are raking in the free media and fundraising cash, btw), so I can't. Anyone else up for getting Clinton or Kucinich to hold their sock or mitten or sweater sleeve? :)

2. It's so cool, though!
Most anything in progress looks just plain weird. Needles poking out, yarn going who knows where, and some shapeless thing that is upside down or funny looking. Hand that to someone and ask them to hold it while you take a picture, and interesting pictures result. :)

Her picture of Obama got screwed up, but from her description, he just gave his great smile and was a good sport. I find that awesome. :D

8. Agree
I find Obama to be more human all-around than Hillary. Just my impression.

3. When my mom passed, she left a large box with argyle socks
still on the needles. I guess she used to send them to my dad in WW11.

6. Now, that's serious knitting!
Argyle socks are part of the knitting guild masters program because of their difficulty. She was a serious knitter. :)

11. pfft. little sock.
now, if i handed him a 5ft long strip of one of my quafgans(quilt + afgan). 2 big balls of yarn. now that would be holding something substantial.
