Thanks to Obama supporters here, I am officially for Hillary now..
...while most of the candidates appeal to me at some level, and also do not appeal to me on some level...I cannot bear one more sanctimonious post by the Obama can do no wrong crowd.

ALL the candidates have strengths and flaws, but if ONLY ONE Obama supporter here even acknowledged that at one point, I could consider supporting him...but it's clear that is something I will never see.

Flame away!!!!

12. Try not to let supporters - especially supporters on DU - affect your views of the candidates.
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 09:58 PM by TwilightZone
DUers are a very small subset of any candidate's supporters. As difficult as it is to do, please try to filter out their vehemence when considering the candidates. They most likely aren't representative of their candidates or other supporters of their candidates, for that matter.

32. That's a good plan. Some folks here are kinda....ardent.
They actually aren't helping their candidates, though, any of the rude and bellowing ones. No matter who they support.

There is a slight tendency to associate the failings of these 'ardent' supporters with the candidates, but that's not too swift, either...

46. Agreed.
The closer the primaries get, the more difficult it tends to be to maintain a view of any candidate that is independent of the words and actions of his/her supporters, especially if you spend a lot of time on DU. :)

I've concluded that many of the most ardent supporters have no interest in "helping" their candidates. I sometimes think that they're just here to wreck havoc.

24. That's kinda dumb.
Sort of like basing one's choice of coffee or tea on the personalities of those who drink either coffee or tea, not the flavor of the beverage itself.

It seems to me to be much more reasonable to base one's choice of candidate on the candidate, not the candidate's supporters -- and use the "ignore" feature liberally for annoying DU personalities until after the primaries.

Just IMHO, of course.

56. Actually, Obama supporters led me to a better understanding of his candidacy. They make
a lot of the same arguments and those arguments often seem insane to me. So I looked more closely at Obama, (really ready the supporters links and such) and found that his supporters' odd analysis of things are often based on his own campaign and philosophy. And it is a philosophy that is hilariously naive and based on little but megalomania. He's a smart man, but really a self-absorbed fool at heart. And he never says ANYTHING about anything at all... it's like Scientology or something.

I ended up really disliking Obama for himself, but his supporters showed the way.

55. I Was Fine With Hillary, But Her Words of Recent
the last couple of weeks and then today equating herself to the same experience as Biden, Dodd, Richardson was a real turn-off. I think she's one hell of a smart woman, but I think those men would chuckle at that notion.

The interview with Katie Couric really bothered me. So, now Obama is my guy, not because of DU - that would be just stupid to change my mind because of the bickering that goes on in this place.

58. Frankly, who cares...
I suspect you were for her in the first place. Don't think we can't see past your ruse.

Support her...or better yet, if you're really serious, tell us why you would support her over Obama.

If you base your opinion on a candidate based on how a couple people might defend Obama or whatever on DU, then it's pretty shallow as a way to support another candidate.

I don't think anyone on DU who supports Obama is part of the "Obama can do no wrong crowd". Name the issue and tell us what the "Obama can do no wrong crowd" said about the issue.

Support whoever you want.

No politician is perfect. But if you feel she's the candidate for you, fine.

Just don't act like the Hillbots and start going after Obama. They're the reasons why I'm an Obama supporter.

arguing about the candidates can get here, it doesn't reach the same level of pathetic as admitting you let someone else manipulate your decision making that way and excercise control over how you perform your civic duty.

65. I Figured The Media Darlings
would shred each other just before the Iowa primary.
It was so predicable.
At least it makes room for the others to come to the front.
I'd be thrilled to see any combination of Biden, Edwards or Richardson
take 1st and 2nd.

Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 12:02 AM by quinnox
Yea, the Obama swarm can be bad, they have some doozies on that side that do no credit to their candidate and probably turn off many others to Obama.

The hatred and right wing-like nastiness towards Hillary by some in the Obama camp can do that.

And thats right, there is a holier than thou attitude also there.

Can Obama do no wrong in the eye of his supporters? Apparently not.

Just because someone might support more than one candidate, it doesn't mean their ultimate Primary vote is going to be any less relevant than yours.

Well, not exactly true. But sometimes I think the supporters here forget that their behaviors do indeed reflect on their candidates. Some think they have the votes to burn.

76. Clearly Hillary and Obama do have flaws, however more people are taking a closer look at Obama and
this has begun to start showing in Hillary's numbers beginning to fade. I don't believe Hillary is bullet-proof as far as being the great white hope who is the only one who is capable in defeating anyone the Republicans decide on using for their candidate.

And that's just the tip of the iceburg.

And I've seen nothing that would compare from Hillary supporters here.

88. Well, I haven't seen much nastiness from the Obama people at all but I have seen tons of viciousness
from the Hillary Camp.I do not doubt their may be some vicious Obama supporters, I just have not seen any.It often seems that they have been baited by the Clinton Camp first. I know in many years of campaigns and active politics I have never seen anything as nasty as the Clinton Campaign and the behavior reaches up to the very highest levels including Carville, Terry Mac and Mark Penn.It isn't isolated to DU. Nasty people seem to predominate that campaign. But there are a very few nice Clinton supporters on DU.But they are few.

There are very vocal supporters of all the candidates here.

I tend to chose a candidate based on their records, stances on issues, etc. not by what some of their supporters on an anonymous message board says. Plus, remember DU is a small subset of the democratic party overall.

Thanks to her and her supporters I can not vote for her In a general election(I won't be voting for any republican eather) while I like Edwards better than Obama I have no trouble voting for Obama.
When I see Hillary In debates she Is almost full as much with BS as Bush. And before some accuse
Obama of using republican talking points Hillary did that against Obama and Edwards by calling
making the wealthy pay more In social security takex as a tax Increase.
