Poll question: Illegitimate Attack Or Appropriate Criticism
If Candidate X criticizes Candidate Y for ducking controversial votes is that appropriate criticism or an illegitimate attack.

3. Uh oh...
Why did Hillary duck voting on her buddy Brownback's bill that would prevent contributions to organizations that perform or promote abortion as a method of family planning?

5. I Was Asking A General Question
I notice Obama didn't vote on that either. I suspect they were campaigning. That being said, there is a suggestion that a "pattern and practice" exists among a certain candidate missing key votes throughout his state senate and United States senate career.

Doesn't that trouble you?

9. I look at all things in context.
Voting records are important, of course.

However, we also need to be critical of candidates who seek to misconstrue legislative records for the "red herring-like" purpose of their own political advantage. Should we have also gobbled up the "I voted for it before I voted against it" bs peddled against Kerry in 2004?

Lots of games are played in the passing of legislation; poison pills and all...

The claim, here, is that a certain candidate has a "pattern and practice" of avoiding the tough votes...

If the charge is true it's troubling...If the charge isn't true it's troubling that somebody is falsely making it...

4. Doesn't it depend on if it's true or not?
A lot of people say a lot of things in politics. Sometimes the criticism isn't true.

11. 100% and Obama supporters are still claiming it's a BS issue
Several posters have tried to portray his present votes as courageous, but none of them are posting in this thread
