I am already on the record as saying The Ghoul won't be the Pug nominee... Either will The Huckster... Mittens is giving his religion speech at Bush Pere's library or whatever ... That gives you some idea of what the Pug power structure thinks of The Huckster...

I don't know who the Pug nominee will be but it won't be The Huckster or The Ghoul...

1. I hope you're right,
I think Huckleberry will be the biggest threat. He's another Ronald Reagan 'aw shucks' dufus all over again.

11. "aw shucks" is right!
He is minister and he knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk. Hucabee is probably one of the more dangerous of their candidates: repugs eat it up when they are fed religious pablum.

2. I wouldn't count Huckabee out yet--the Xtian vote is easier for him to pick up
than it is for Romney.

3. I think it'll be Mitt when the dust clears
Mitt will give a speech saying that Mormons share the same belief in Almighty God and the same Wholesome Family Values as any other Christian religion.

Issue over.

Back to his nice smile and executive ability as a selling point.

7. You May Be Right
He's the choice of the Pug establishment...He says the right things (now) and hues to GOP orthodoxy... McCain is a maverick... The Huckster scares Republicans with his economic heterodoxy....The Ghoul is too dirtied up to win... The Pug establishment wants Romney but will take McCain if they have to...

But you're right the Bush*'s want to give Romney cover and Romney is from the mode of technocratic governors from which Jeb Bush comes from...

Romney or McCain...

13. Duncan Hunter And Tom Tancredo Are Their Kucinich
They embody everything they believe in but for whatever reason they can not convince a plurality or majority of their fellow citizens to believe in it too...

5. It's McCain, and has been for a couple of months. Everyone else is too vulnerable and
when the dust settles, McCain will be the only brand-name republican left to vote for. The Bob Dole of 2008.

He's their only really electable candidate, so I'm hoping they don't wise up, but he is the obvious choice, in the way Kerry was the obvious choice in 2004.

Once he gets any sign that his candidacy isn't actually dead, he will get tons of grudging support.

(Since we're predicting...)

16. Ahhhhh
I think McCain is the strongest GOOPER...If Iraq is neutralized as an issue and the surge, which he was one of its most stalwart supporters, is perceived as working the Dems have a big challenge on their hand...People forget in 1972 that the anti-war candidate got crushed because America was perceived as extricating themselves honorably from Viet Nam through President Nixon's Vietnamization plan...

6. I hear they don't like Huckabee
You'll see some of that at freeperville. Also, I've heard that Bush and Cheney have a preference, but won't reveal it. So you may be onto something. I still think that Romney is a terrible candidate for the republicans. Huckabee is the most republican of the current group.

Here's a conspiracy for you: Would Bushco want to put up a weak candidate in 2008 so Jeb can run in 2012? :tinfoilhat:

8. I Have Never Came On This Board In Four Years With "Inside" Information
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 01:30 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
What little inside information I have is that the Jebster is sympathetic to a Romney nomination...Take it for what its worth...If you think about it they are very similar...Both scions of political familes and both governed as technocrats...

I HATE Jeb Bush!! He never looks at you when he's talking to you...or to the camera...hence in my opinion, dishonest, and not to be trusted.

Here's a video of the smug ass.

18. What do they want Romney for?
He's a terrible candidate for them. He flip flops more than anyone I have ever seen. He doesn't answer any tough questions. Maybe that's why they like him.
