I predict Barack Obama will win the nomination!
Republicans detest strong women, and it looks like a lot of Democrats do too. Black men were able to vote before women. Therefore, a black man will win a Democratic or Republican nomination before a woman would.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!

and he will be nominated Vice President.

Of course, all bets are off if Al Gore runs.

4. I would choose any Dem contender before I'd vote for Hillary but that just means I'm not sexist
I like strong women, but just because I'd like to see a female President doesn't mean I will only vote for a woman. Condi Rice is a woman and I wouldn't vote for her either.

This race is far too important to choose it on the basis of anything but sheer ability and (hopefully) integrity.

5. That's what worries me - that people are looking at this race as a woman vs a black man
and not about issues, and who is going to be able to actually get things done.

11. If he wins the primary he will lose in the general. Obama is unelectable.

12. I don't see why Obama has to be that person.
Edited on Wed Dec-05-07 12:52 PM by Bleachers7
I understand what you're saying, but I don't necessarily think that Obama or Hillary fit that mold. Both of them could lose this year, and some other strong person could appear in the future.

15. If she WAS a strong woman who stood up against Bush the last 7yrs, many Dems would be WITH
her and not against her as we are.

Is she a strong woman NOW when it comes to opposing OTHER DEMS?

Is THAT why she wouldn't use any of that accumulated dry powder to attack Bush?

19. But will it happen now or is the country still too racist?
It will happen. But the big question is, are we still some years away from that moment? A lot of voters still let their prejudices dictate their voting in a presidential general election. Obama has a big obstacle here.
