You know, I really don't think we should compare any of our candidates to Mussolini.
And that's what people are stealthily trying to do when they toss around the word "corporatist" in reference to a Democrat they don't like. And it's questionable whether Mussolini even used the word anyways, so nyah.

4. It's a Nader/Mumia construct. Meant to "teach them a lesson".

The last lesson we got taught was 8 years of jr.

5. There are specific hallmarks that are shared ....
Placing the well being of corporate entities over the needs of the common citizens is one of those hallmarks ...

You are stretching credulity to claim those who make that connection are directly comparing Hillary to Mussolini .....

6. Most of the people using the term have no idea of its historical significance.
It's been co-opted for the current political cycle.

Let's not even bring up the references to "fascism".

7. Fine, Hillary's a fascist
Is that better?

:eyes:

When we have people living in dumps, maybe you'll wake up. Wait a minute, the corporate hospitals are already discharging homeless people to the streets. How bad does it have to get before you stand with the people?

14. You linked homeless people to Hillary being a fascist?
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:23 PM by TwilightZone
Wow, that's a new one. Yes, Hillary is responsible for all the people who have ever been homeless.

That assertion is simply amazing. Simply. Amazing.

19. Yeah because that's exactly what I said
We can use the term corporatist to discuss what happens when we let corporations have too much power, like people being dumped into the streets sick and injured. And yes, Bill Clinton's policies laid the groundwork for that sort of thing to happen.

If you don't want to use the word corporatist, I guess we can go straigt to fascist, since the OP wanted to bring Mussolini into it, which makes no sense at all.

20. The OP mentioned Mussolini because that's who Hillary was compared to in another thread.
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:38 PM by TwilightZone
Did you think the reference was just random?

In my experience, people don't usually start random threads by picking a name out of a hat. In this instance, there was a preceding post that was the reason for the OP.

21. The OP said "corporatist"
If that isn't what he meant, then he shouldn't have said it.

22. Read the thread title, then read the link included.
The connection between "corporatist" and Mussolini is very clear.

23. Look, he said "toss around the word 'corporatist'"
If he had some other problem, he should have said so. And can come back to tell us all what he meant, any time he wants.

Pretty much sums it up, no comparison to Benito. Nice try, though.
