Why the protests about the cross-shaped bookcase in Huck's ad?
After all, he is talking about Christ so what's the big deal about having a cross - or not - in the background? He is running as a "Christian candidate," after all.

(reported on CNN earlier this afternoon)

2. I wondered about that, too
Why not just complain about the entire content of the ad?

3. You couldn't hang a dog on that flimsy looking cross, let alone an all powerful man God.

5. Well, I agree with the atheist candidate when he said...oh, wait, there are no atheist candidates.

At least no public ones.

I see it as a reminder of prejudice against atheists, that christians can use their faith as an electoral plus, but if an atheist tried running they'd have to lie, either explicitly or by omission.

6. name one society that was run
from primarlily a religious perspective that was ever any good? one that brings to mind is the aztecs. Imagine the president ordering sacrifices in order to curb global warming? i mean praying for rain is one thing but if you firmly believe you po'd god you would have to make a sacrifice to make it right? right?

7. Because using religious imagery in a political ad is blasphemous
and also potentially alienating to people who don't happen to belong to that particular faith. It's just WRONG.

9. What's's the difference between using religious imagey
and talking about Chris? Not every voter believes in Christ or accept him as the savior. It is wrong for anyone to run as a "Christian candidate" or of any other faith but it appears that this is what the Evangelicals in Iowa loves.

10. Since when do they care about us?
We're pretty insignificant statistically, and as far as some of them are concerned (at least with atheists) we shouldn't even be considered citizens. Even some DUers opine that they'd gladly toss our votes in the dustbin in favor of the evangelical vote. Face it, non-Christians just don't count. We're political garbage.
