Biden says he's ready for the challenge---set to change things
NEW IPSWICH – The next president of the United States has the "single greatest opportunity, literally, since Franklin Roosevelt to shape the world. It's an awesome responsibility and an awesome opportunity," Sen. Joe Biden told voters here Monday.

Biden, a Democrat from Delaware, is ready to take on that challenge and "to change what needs to be changed," he told about two dozen supporters at Lisa Brown's home.

"I have never seen the middle class so uncertain," he said. "We need a president who will tell the people the truth. I'm not naive," he added, noting that he had served under seven presidents in the past 35 years.

During the hourlong meeting, Brown introduced the senator to the gathering in her living room. "He's the best foreign policy candidate we've got," she said to loud applause, referring to Biden's long tenure with the Foreign Relations Committee.

Biden spoke briefly about the type of change he'd like to see in the White House before answering questions. "We need to be free of the oil oligarchs," he said. "There needs to be some sacrifices on our parts. We had the world in the palm of our hand (after 9/11) and the president squandered it. He missed a gigantic opportunity to unite the country. The next president has an incredible opportunity. He must challenge the country to change. Our party has a tremendous opportunity to save this country."

(good stuff after this in the article too...)

3. "We need to be free of the oil oligarchs,"
Do people realize what a golden opportunity they have in Biden?

Here's a man that even republicans would vote for, who doesn't owe any special interests anything!

If you really want to 'take your country back' stop voting for people who gets tons of cash from corporations & special interests.

Biden's your chance, don't miss it.

5. I especially love this:

"Start with insuring everybody with catastrophic insurance. Everyone believes no one should lose his home because of catastrophic illness. How can we do that while we are financing the war? (That cost) denies us the credibility to lead the world and the flexibility to deal with domestic problems."

Biden: Courage, Candor, Competence.

7. And his take on election issues
And yes, the results of the last two elections are still in doubt, Biden said, blaming the "hanging chads" in Florida and faulty voting machines in Ohio. To solve the issue, he proposed federal standards for machines used in federal elections.

So far, I haven't heard any candidate talk about this and it is something that a lot of voters are concerned about.

This could be a thread of its own.

12. And most people are avoiding this issue
when so many people were affected by the problems in Ohio and Florida. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

11. This gives me chills:

15. The FDR comment fills-in what's been missing from his stump speech...
He's so direct and brass-tacks about policy and cleaning up the mess, he's failed in the past to offer an inspiring, positive vision for America's future. I know he's always had one, but compared to Obama, Edwards and Kucinich, it hasn't really come across as a clear message of hope to voters.

I think that opening is what he needs to catch fire. I just hope it inspires enough people in time.
