Lawyers endorse Obama. The names of about three-dozen local attorneys who are endorsing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama were revealed during a news conference Tuesday outside the Matthew J. Perry Courthouse in Columbia.
Among the attorneys endorsing Obama are former state Democratic Party chairman Dick Harpootlian and Stephen Benjamin, chairman of the Richland County Democratic Party.
The attorneys said Obama is the candidate voters can count on to uphold the Constitution, protect civil rights and liberties, and work to ensure equal justice for all Americans.
Obama is a former constitutional law professor and was elected the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.
