Poll question: Who else here becomes addicted to DU a few weeks before each major Election?
Most of the year I spend just an hour or or so a week at DU sometimes going weeks without checking in unless something happens in the news. Four years ago leading up to Iowa and again the Presidential election I became glued to DU for several hours each night. Now I find myself doing the same thing. It's like I have to be here to see if anything new breaks or how the polls have changed and also get caught up in all kinds of political discourse. I tend to feel kind of worthless when I spend too much time here but it's as addictive as video games were in Junior High when the big game is coming up in a few weeks.

How about you?

1. Someday I will have to start
a DUA group. DU Anonymous for those of us who can't stay out of here for an entire day without getting edgy and going through withdrawl.

I'll be the first to join.

2. Other: I find DU gets predictable right before elections, as partisans go at it.
Most of the posts become You Suck - No, You - No, You Suck Worse - No, You Suck to Infinity - etc. etc.

Little real analysis there, I'm afraid. I take an extra Excedrin and wait until we can tear Bush (another) new one, as he is the one who really sucks.

4. Usually here at least once a day...
have been for about 7 1/2 years. Don't watch TV so use DU to catch up on what the reliable posters find worth mentioning.

Election time is the pits here however.

Last national election, DU, SmirkingChimp, and democrats.com were all inundated by the fighting factions of the Dean and Kucinich campaigns. They were the most frequently banned for everything short of bare-knuckle fighting.

Tactics have changed to some extent.
