Do a Progressive Democrat really want an endorsement from the Washington Blade?
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 11:55 PM by JackBeck
Especially from Kevin Naff?

The same dude that hired Jeff Gannon...after we found out about Jeff Gannon????

I'd love to hear from the LGBT community and our supporters how this statement can be justified:

“At large gatherings of extended family, I don't always bring my partner because it's easier to just avoid the stress … When we check into a hotel together, sometimes one of us will hold back in the lobby to avoid those awkward confrontations with the front desk staff … Of course, in an ideal world, full openness at all times would be the reality … But who lives in that place? … Before the sanctimonious among us line up to bash Mary again, they should ask themselves if they're really living an honest life 100 percent of the time, no exceptions. I'm not. Are you?”

-- Kevin Naff, in his May 26, 2006 editorial, “Don't Bash Mary Cheney”

On edit: Changed the OP titled from "you" to "Progressive Democrat".

3. When did that happen?
And how does that take away from what he said 6 months ago?

6. I did something very simple.
I went to....

google.com and typed in the dudes name.

Don't tell anyone, but it's amazing what you can find there.

Let's keep it our dirty little secret.

7. I thought someone here posted an article stating that they
let Jeff Gannon go. I don't know what the big deal is that he was hired. Maybe they took pity on him.

9. If that's the "him" you are referring
I do recall Gannon being let go.

Your response, in all fairness, was a bit ambiguous. Nonetheless, regardless if Gannon was let go, Naff let him spew his talking points.

'Nuff said.

12. Whether he was able to speak his talking points is not the point.
Everyone here says that Gannon is a "has been" and no one listens to him. So what's the big deal?

I thought the Washington Blade was a popular magazine that catered to homosexuals?

13. To get back to the original point:
“At large gatherings of extended family, I don't always bring my partner because it's easier to just avoid the stress … When we check into a hotel together, sometimes one of us will hold back in the lobby to avoid those awkward confrontations with the front desk staff … Of course, in an ideal world, full openness at all times would be the reality … But who lives in that place? … Before the sanctimonious among us line up to bash Mary again, they should ask themselves if they're really living an honest life 100 percent of the time, no exceptions. What's your comfort level with this statement?

10. He's not deserving of pity.
Also it was more Chris Crain that hired (and defended his decision to hire after it came under inevitable scrutiny) Gannon than Naff. Crain left; a few days later Naff fired Gannon.

But Naff isn't extremely more progressive than Crain just the same.

should start with "Does...". Just missed final chance to edit by thatmuch, fwiw.

Anyway, I'm curious as to why this is receiving the silent treatment.

it's one of the top gay papers in the US, and the oldest one in existence. It was a nice catch for Senator Clinton.

20. I said Progressive Democrat, not Democrat.
Or are you holding on to her "mind of a conservative, heart of a liberal" quote?

Heck, why not throw in "soul of a moderate" to complete the triangulation?

21. Yes, I know what you said
and absent some objective standard of what is "progressive", it comes down to a subjective issue. You don't think she's progressive. I think she is. That's pretty much the end of the discussion.
