I taped Bush's (late) speach. Here's what I think

First, it was taped, not live. It was many minutes late, and for that short of a speech, one word comes to mind: retakes.

Immediately, that suggests that they cut, revised, edited, reshot, reshot, cut more, edited, cut, practiced, and re-shot again. And finally they got it right.

Then, listen to the background. He was in Crawford. In a small, tight, close room. With a lovely background.

The image the sound gives you is that he was in a huge hall. Just the right amount of echo. Hell, my mac can do that.

Now, listen to background noise. They mimic'd the sound of photographers. Just like a real shoot at a real press conference. So, take a close look at the "shots". Even in the WH press room, with professional lighting, you still see the image from flash photography. See if you can spot one flash in his little vignette.

Except not one press person was invited. not one newsman/woman was present. Bush was all alone, but for a few aides. Bush's head bobbing to the "crowd" was nothing more than bullshit.

Finally, Bush, against all advice, always feels that he can "convince" his audience. Had there been one pressie in that room, he would have taken one question, and made a bad joke. There were none. Not one.

and that folks, is how a professional WH keeps the press under bay, and how the American people really think that they heard their president at a press conference. Except they didn't.

He was probably laughing and cracking sick jokes through several takes.

I also heard the
shutter clicks.

... it's all sets, costumes, props, sound and lighting effects - and absolutely nothing of substance or of value.

why didn't they have somebody on his staff ask questions - just like FEMA.

I heard those shutter snaps too.

The camera track could have been added at any time.

in retrospect it becomes painfully obvious.

one, he looks center (teleprompter) and to his left (a second screen). Not once. Never does he pan to his right. Ofcourse, there is a fucking cement wall there, and nothing to see, but still.

second, did you notice that hollywood styled zoom in, to increase the "effectiveness" of his words?
This whole thing was simply a crock.

If you're correct, he responded accordingly.
