The Story of Stuff...let's educate ourselves
Edited on Thu Dec-27-07 10:22 PM by ElsewheresDaughter
This should be taught to ALL our children in our public schools.

http://www.storyofstuff.com/

What is the Story of Stuff?

From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

4. The Century of Self - Excellent!
So good that I bought the series on DVD. I've shown part of the first episode in several classes -- it shows how classical conditioning is used to satisfy unconscious selfish desires... Freud + Pavlov = Marketing.

"The Story of Stuff" is terrific in terms of the issues of ecology and international social justice.

5. We are gluttons when we stuff all of our senses to the point of excess.
The energetic and emotional charge becomes our addiction as we live out our little lives. It doesn't bring us to true peace and happiness, only a continuous, but ever-temporary sensual satiation over and over again. We wake up and feed our senses and consume until sleep takes over. Some of us see the endless perversion of this numbing game and repent from the living death of the gluttony of stuff.
