NH-Concord Monitor----Given Biden a look
December 28. 2007 12:21AM

Most defenders of New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary status cite our unusual attention to candidates and the feasibility of retail politics here as reasons New Hampshire should remain first. Here, it is argued, we are less prone to the influence of mass media and all candidates, well financed or not, are given the opportunity to rise to the occasion.

I call on my fellow Democrats to live up to our claimed sophistication as choosers of who we want to lead our party into the general election and pay attention to a candidate who is neither a media frontrunner or a darling of the best-heeled sect of our party, Sen. Joseph Biden.

Biden has been in the Senate for nearly 35 years and is well respected nationally and internationally. As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he garners the international respect essential to rebuilding America's global esteem. Sen. Biden's plans for Iraq and Afghanistan are pragmatic, feasible and prudent. Nationally, he has worked on significant legislation on a wide swath of issues and is as well-versed in education, health care, law enforcement and the military as any one in the nation.

Biden is well respected across party lines and possesses the skill and reputation necessary to heal deep divisions between Democrats and Republicans.

I encourage you all to live up to our status as discretionary voters who pay attention, bypass the glitz of celebrity visits and projections and vote for the most experienced and pragmatic candidate, Sen. Joseph Biden.

1. Not "The Monitor" speaking; just a LTTE. The NH papers are full of it, err, them these days. (NT)

3. So your title was misleading. We could have dozens of LTTEs every day...
> So what.

So your title was misleading. We could post dozens of LTTEs
every day supporting every candidate from Joe Biden to (probably)
Pat Paulsen, and Paulsen's dead (kind'a like Biden's candidacy).

5. Again, so what.

It's petty that you pointed it out.

Tesha.

PS. Biden's campaign is far from being dead.

6. It's not petty to point it out; the actual endorsement of "The Monitor" would mean something to me.

It's not petty to point it out; the actual endorsement of
"The Monitor" would mean something to me.

And I can't remember if the DU editing period is 15 minutes
or 30 minutes, but if it is 30, I pointed the problem out to
you within a short enough time for you to have corrected the
problem had you wished to.

7. It didn't say ENDORSEMENT, it did not SAY article....
but thanks for continually bumping it back to the top, so more people can read the LETTER.

8. It doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter; Biden {(D) MBNA} hasn't got a hope
in hell of doing well in New Hampshire. If he's running
for anything, he's running for the Veep slot and he might
even be good at that.

4. Good LTTE
And he makes a good point - if all NH does is rubber-stamp the media/Iowa front-runner, why bother?

9. Well put! You would hope the voters have minds of their own, and are not just sheep.
