Gen. Wesley Clark responds to the latest Obama attack:
"This is a time for leadership, not politics. Senator Obama's campaign seems to believe that Senator Clinton's actions led to the tragic events in Pakistan. This is an incredible and insulting charge. It politicizes a tragic event of enormous strategic consequence to the United States and the world, and it has no place in this campaign."

26. I wonder if Clark may be her Sec of State instead of her VP.
 Anyone agree? Her description of the retired general that will shuttle back and forth sounds like a SoS job to me and Clark has plenty of negotiating experience.

8. What Obama Campaign Manager David Axelrod REALLY said in response in reporters' questioning....
Today after Barack Obama's closing argument speech in Iowa, Obama adviser David Axelrod parried questions from reporters who pressed him
on whether the killing could help Hillary.

Here's one key exchange:

REPORTER: But looking ahead, does the assassination put on the front burner foreign policy credentials in the closing days?

AXELROD: Well, it puts on the table foreign policy judgment, and that's a discussion we welcome. Barack Obama had the judgment to oppose the
war in Iraq, and he warned at the time it would divert us from Afghanistan and al Qaeda, and now we see the effect of that. Al Qaeda's resurgent,
they're a powerful force now in Pakistan, they may have been involved -- we've been here, so I don't know whether the news has been updated,
but there's a suspicion they may have been involved in this.

I think his judgment was good. Senator Clinton made a different judgment, so let's have that discussion.

15. Clark is going to wear out his fingers cutting and pasting the...
Axelrod bit. I note that the Axelrod comment has not changed from the original.

Freeper tactics if I'm not mistaken.

16. Them's fightin' words!!
I'm kidding. Actually, it's a rather subdued and measured contrast of the two candidates.

It would have been better not to mention a primary opponent at all, but I don't see this as especially irksome.

9. I wondered when someone with historic knowledge would respond
Pakistan has been in upheaval for generations. Bhutto's dad was killed in the 1970's. For Obama to suggest that this is new, shows his immaturity and reiterates the fact that he is not presidential material.

20. Good catch, Evergreen Emerald..
of course your pointed post will be overlooked for it's substance rather than enlightening some who still believe,"HOPE" and a "FRESH face" are the ultimate answers to everything.

25. The impression I've had of Obama is that he repeats what he's told about foreign policy
(AND at one point WKC was giving him some help understanding foreign policy) but he really doesn't have a fundamental understanding of it. In other words, he gets 'briefed' but doesn't have the background to internalize the information in any sort of useful way.

All of this Alexrod/Pakistan/Bhuto problem of his just illustrates that to the nth degree.

Clark's right.... Obama/Alexrod are wrong.

BTW. Any day a 'staff member' takes you off message this close to an election is a bad day. Obama should be VERY unhappy with Alexrod.
