Republican Blog is Rooting For Hillary - Obama seen as "devastatingly appealing Democratic nominee"
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 11:47 AM by Dems Will Win

FROM RACE 4 2008 Web site:

I’m Rooting for Hillary

Yet again, I find myself breaking from my fellow Romney supporters on a key issue- the Democratic result in Iowa. The conventional wisdom suggests that an Obama Iowa win rallies NH’s independent class, and deprives John McCain of a critical voting block, thus allowing Romney to win the state. And while I agree that an Obama win helps Romney, I can’t bring myself to hope for this result, for one key reason; after all the early state jostling, our party will nominate someone. Odds are, it won’t be Mike Huckabee, so next November I’m also certain to cast my ballot for the Republican nominee. I want that candidate to triumph, and it’s becoming increasingly clear to me that Barack Obama is a potentially devastatingly appealing Democratic nominee. To understand this, we need only look at the last Des Moines Register poll. Typically, fewer then 20% of caucus-goers are independents. This holds true on both sides. The Des Moines Register’s sample indicates that has held true on the Republican side. But, on the Democratic side, DMR is predicting that the Democratic caucus will be made up of an astonishing 40% of Independent voters. 39% of the these voters prefer Obama, compared to 15% who prefer Hillary. I’ve also heard suggestions that 60% of those sampled were “first-time caucus-goers”. Again, this is extraordinarily high, and undoubtedly a product of Obama’s appeal. Ultimately, I prefer Romney to McCain, but not enough to inflict on the nation a very liberal man capable of fundamentally reordering American politics. So, though it seems like a long-shot, I hope Hillary wins Iowa, and stops Obama cold.

I agree with this post, and everything therein, wholeheartedly and have been wanting to do a post like this of my own for about a week and a half now. Thanks for expressing my thoughts perfectly.

Hillary will be the easiest Dem to defeat this November. Obama scares the crap out of me.

Obama has them shaking in their boots!

Please recommend if you want others to see this look from across the aisle...

5. They do have one chance: Hillary. Don't forget there are many news reports of Bill's 2002 adultery
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 11:59 AM by Dems Will Win
I can provide links if you like.

On top of Hillary just being plain unlikable, Bill's affairs with Belinda Stronach and Lisa Belzberg will come out if she wins the nomination -- and then the GOP could probably run even Schmuckabee or Rudolph Hitler and win.

I think Edwards, Dodd, Obama, Richardson or Biden could win, but not Hillary for this reason. More Bill Clinton affairs would be a deal breaker with just enough voters to put a candidate with 50% unfaves out of reach. It wouldn't take much...

11. and?
It's Senator Clinton's fault if former president Clinton is having affairs?

I'm turning into a socialist as I approach 40, so I'm not voting for the corporate wing of the democratic party so I have no dog in the fight between the Clinton camp and the Obama camp but I just have to say that these attacks from Democrats against Clinton are really, really starting to bug me.

And, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of people calling Clinton by first name and all of the men by their last name.

6. Nice try at misdirection... But they nevertheless root for Hil & Obama scares the crap out of them
WHY? I thought a black man would be a weak candidate. So why are they so terrified of Obama?

BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE ANTI-BLACK VOTE ISN'T BIG ENOUGH IN THE MIDDLE TO PREVENT AN OBAMA LANDSLIDE IN NOVEMBER.

10. yeah, right
I'm not voting for any of the top three (I was planning to vote Edwards, but I've changed my mind) - let me just say that before the Obama people start attacking me because it's what they do...

Anyway, WHY IN THE WORLD would we care what some dipshit republican blogger has to say? Unless we're talking about a very influential person, this idiot probably has less than 500 readers.

"devastatingly appealing", that's about dead on.

"Obama scares me." I hear that from alot of pubs I work with (they know I'm a supporter). Edwards scares them too, but they say Obama's ability 'to attract a new audience' scares them the most.

16. I wish that I felt that Barack "Hussein" Obama were the most electable after 911
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 03:20 PM by mzmolly
but somehow I'm thinkin' not? I adore Obama and if he gets the nod, I'll gladly vote for him, but to suggest he's the most electabable is a farce.

17. That's not what the poll of Iowa voters last week showed
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 05:47 PM by Dems Will Win
In the General, Obama would take Iowa right now with 52% to 55% of the vote, while Hillary loses to most in the GOP including Huckabee.

Dare me to give you the links. (Hint: Survey USA)

Why do you think he would not win? His middle name is Hussein? Come on...

19. To suggest that Mr. Obama will have some sort of 'mass appeal' is naive.
I adore the man, as I've said, but I don't kid myself into thinking that he is the 'most' electable.

18. What nonsense....
Hillary or Obama will scorch the opposition in November.

I know, polls don't count, but go look at them - Hillary or Obama against any of them - and that includes the venerable John McCain.
