Great article about Clark's new ad.

Clark Is First to Use Bill Clinton in Ad

By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press Writer

December 29, 2003, 6:20 PM EST

WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark includes a clip of Bill Clinton in a new television commercial, attempting to align himself with a popular former president and fellow Arkansan.

Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, have said they have no plans to endorse a candidate during the contest for the Democratic nomination. Still, Clark's campaign has embraced his parallels with Clinton throughout the race, and he is the first of the nine candidates to feature Clinton in an ad.

"It's a brilliant stroke," said Donna Brazile, a Democratic consultant who ran the 2000 campaign of Al Gore, Clinton's vice president. "It shows General Clark as someone who is close to Bill Clinton. This will help him galvanize Democratic primary voters. They love Bill Clinton."

The clip, one of several scenes in the 30-second ad, shows Clinton at the White House placing the Presidential Medal of Freedom around Clark's neck in honor of Clark's work in Kosovo as NATO's supreme allied commander. The scene also is in a 17-minute film about Clark's life that the campaign gives to supporters. <snip>

5. Too bad that's all we have
Hopefully one day they will add a brain-checker too.

CodeNamedD has more intelligence in his little fingers than most people here. I'd rather spend one nanosecond eciphering his words than the hours it takes trying to decipher the thought process of certain New Dems.

2. So Dean's Campaign Lies Yet Again
whilst whining to Terry about other Candidates attacking him. What a piece of sloppy work Dean & his campaign is.

But what do you expect from a campaign that stoops to using Dean's own Dead Brother as an excuse to attack Clark- who made a simple statement while answering a joking question about a skiing contest.

10. Do you mean this line?
Jay Carson, a Dean spokesman, said the ad "doesn't make up for a lifetime of voting Republican. We're looking forward to seeing the Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney ad."

Yes I would call that an attack on Clark by Dean. There is nothing in Clark's TV ad that can be construed as an attack on Dean by Clark. It is most certainly an attack, and Carson can't even use the standard excuse for attacking a Democrat which usually is some version of "Well, it's true. Stating facts is not an attack." It's not true because Carson went overboard (in Dean's name) and simply erased Clark voting for Clinton and Gore, in the last three Presidential elections. Had he stuck to "Nixon Reagan", then it would have at least been true, while remaining an attack.

Of course Clark can use that footage, he officially received a very high commendation from the President of the United States, on behalf of the American People. Clinton gave him the medal. That's the visual, end of story. Yes many feel it is advantageous to Clark to have that association, but it is legitimate. He earned it.

11. I found it interesting
and telling that Mr. Carson neglected to mention the fact that Wes Clark voted for Bill Clinton, TWICE and then Al Gore in 2000. The Dean campaign is turning to slime. Let's let them self destruct, shall we?

Clark got criticised by Dean's campaign AND Kerry's.

Maybe its a Stop Clark conspiracy?
