IOWA COVERAGE ON TV: Live, from Des Moines, It’s Thursday Night
NYT: January 3, 2008,
Live, from Des Moines, It’s Thursday Night
By Brian Stelter

Don’t overdose on political coverage just yet: at least five television networks will feature Iowa caucus coverage Thursday night.

The broadcast networks will provide brief updates during prime time. Brian Williams of NBC, Charles Gibson of ABC and Katie Couric of CBS are all stationed in Iowa today. ABC will expand “Nightline” to an hour (11:35 p.m. to 12:35 a.m.), with Terry Moran, one of the anchors, joined by Mr. Gibson and the moderator of “This Week,” George Stephanopolous. (NOTE: Times are Eastern time zone.)

The cable news networks will cover the caucus results extensively throughout the evening. CNN will begin special programming at 8 p.m., with Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Lou Dobbs anchoring from New York. Larry King will conclude the night with an hour-long interview show at midnight....

MSNBC’s coverage from Iowa will begin at 6 p.m. with Tucker Carlson, followed by “Hardball with Chris Matthews” at 7 p.m. and “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” at 8 p.m. Mr. Matthews and Mr. Olbermann will host caucus coverage from New York from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m., with contributions from Mr. Williams and Mr. Russert in Iowa. The coverage will be streamed on NBC News 2 Go, the network’s cell phone platform.

Bloomberg TV will show caucus coverage during the 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. editions of “Money & Politics.” On PBS, “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” will focus on the caucuses in a special 11 p.m. half-hour broadcast. Jim Lehrer will interview Judy Woodruff in Iowa and Gwen Ifill in New Hampshire.

3. I think CSPAN is showing live coverage inside a caucus location
They did it in 2004 and it was really interesting to watch--although it made me want to climb into my tv set and caucus for my candidate.
