2. Realistically speaking, he is correct.
Edwards doesn't register 15% nationally, doesn't break 20% in New Hampshire or South Carolina.

Without a win in Iowa, he doesn't stand much of a chance.

22. Plus, he'll have no money. If he
can't win Iowa after campaigning there for 6 years...where can he win?
I sympathize with Elizabeth...but not Edwards. But he certainly beats McCain, Huskster, Mittens or Ghouliani by a billion and I'd be very happy to vote for him if he wins.

It's not exactly a profound observation, though.

24. How so?
According to the MSM, the "story" of the Democratic race was:

"Hillary is unstoppable. She'll out-fundraise and out-organize everyone. Might as well go home. Done deal."

Until it wasn't. THEN, the story was...

"Is a two-man, er, person, race. Neck and neck, as they come down the stretch, it's, it's..."

So, now, forgive me if I'm not swallowing this whole "Edwards has to win it big in Iowa or else he's finished" story any more than the last few.

If Clinton and Obama are the "front-runners" (in terms of opinion polls and fundraising, I guess, since no one has actually VOTED!), then I think if Edwards comes in #2, then, whoa! All of a sudden maybe it isn't a 2-person race after all. If Hillary is third, then "Hillary is invincible" goes into the history books along side "Dewey Beats Truman!" If Obama isn't first, well...

You get the idea. All sides will spin a #1, 2 or 3 finish as best they can. If the money is there, they can still compete, in New Hampshire, South Carolina and beyond. If the money isn't there, well, I guess it just shows how fucked up our system is, that by the time anyone gets to vote, it has already been decided. How's that for Democracy? NOT!

6. And a douchebag!
Tweety is so far up their asses it's pathetic. Let's see what the Iowans have to say before making any outlandish predictions. What's worse I feel sorry that Keith has to sit next to this nitwit tonight until 12 for all the analysis. Just being in the same room with Tweety for 2 minutes and I would need a drink REAL bad!

9. Why are Matthews and Buchanan saying BOTH Obama and Edwards are
finished if they don't win Iowa?? I mean, that's just B/S.. so no one but Hillary can survive a 2nd place finish? Is there a democracy in this country or MSM Coronation. This is sickening. Obama and Edwards BOTH have huge support.

13. I simply can't believe this prattle. I just hope both Obama and Edwards
haven't been scorched so badly by the MSM or the other camps that we get a chance to give them the delegates they deserve on Feb 5th. I think the South is going to surprise some people.

10. He spits when he talks. This morning I swear I saw a piece of his spittle land in Morning Joe's cup
when they were in that restaurant, Java Joe's, in Iowa this morning. When Joe drank from his cup after Squeeky's lunger wad landed in it, I got so grossed out I almost gagged.

12. he does
I'm just saying this as a political observer. Edwards HAS to win Iowa. He's been in that state the longest and should have the closest ties to the people there. He's the only guy in the race who ran in 2004 (not counting Kucinich) so he's familiar.

If he doesn't win, or place a really close second, then what does that say about his campaign? Answer, that it didn't appeal to the people who know him the best.

How can he convince anyone else to vote for him if he can't convince Iowa?

26. BS, people!
Right now, Edwards looks to be pulling ahead of Clinton for 2nd place--and that's with, I don't know, one-tenth of her money, and one-twentieth of Obama's!

If he doesn't win, or place a really close second, then what does that say about his campaign? Answer, that it didn't appeal to the people who know him the best.

Ehhhhhhh! WRONG answer!

What it says is, with a fraction of the money, and without taking corporate money, he BEAT the supposedly "unstoppable" Clinton and came in second to a big smile and a lot of empty promises that outspent everyone else.

What it says is, that Edward's campaign is VIABLE.

In fact, it is just getting started.
