Edwards did not concede
I think that is not just bad form ... but unbelievably bad form.

I thought his speech was great ... but he did not close with a acceptance of 2nd place.

What else can a person say.

I'm not surprised,
at all.

I always felt that it was more about him, regardless of how many times I was shouted down for saying this.

But it's alright...as it will be noted.

I don't think "concession speeches" are required for each
primary or caucas...

Hillary isn't doing it either..

You don't concede until you've decided to stop fighting..

26. You are correct.
I wouldn't expect a concession speech from any of the other finishers in the very first leg of a multi-leg race.

For example, the other than first place finishers in the Tour de France do not 'concede' to any particular day's leader.

Of course, if the original poster thinks that the Iowa caucuses by themselves should determine who the nominee is ... well, then everyone but Obama should concede and drop-out? Somehow, I don't think so.

5. He's still running for the nomination and is speaking to the next voters!
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:30 PM by SharonAnn
Had he been beaten badly, he would've conceded. But this is one of 40+ primaries. So, with this showing, he's definitely in the running.

6. He said something about thanks for second place at the end
of his speech. I believe that's what I heard. Wouldn't that be an acceptance of second place?

He was not in bad form at all. There's no need to concede, the race isn't over yet.

His speech was exactly what he needed to say and in primetime, something he has been unable to get much of due to the MSM blackout of his candidacy...

21. What?
This is one caucus, and if you look at past Iowa figures, it is possible this may not determine who will be the Democratic candidate. Jeez. Anyone who concedes now doesn't want it badly enough, IMO.
