I'm thinking the Clinton camp should drop their "Change" theme....
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 10:08 AM by Sparkly
I think Obama's got that one covered, and after last night, they'll be trumped on that one every time.

They might do better emphasizing "experience," "steadiness," "insight," how she's smart and hard-working, things like that. For the excitement factor, I'm thinking they should be bold about the so-called "gender card," which they seem to have shied away from since all the criticism after her appearance at Wellesley. Why not go ahead and talk about women's power or "women's issues" or women in history? (I could be wrong about that. I seem to have a different view of it than a lot of people!)

Anyway, I don't think they can co-opt "change" anymore. They've been trying to say she has the experience to make the change happen, but it might be too late to make that happen since it's Obama's momentum out of Iowa.

Agree? Disagree?

3. You need experience to get change seems to work - O has the 17 to 29 crowd no matter what he
says - If Hill gets the nomination the You need experience to get change would be a good general election approach - IMO

4. The only problem with that is where voters are placing their emphasis this election cycle.
In exit polls in Iowa, more than half of caucus goers said they were looking for change, while only about a quarter said experience matters more.

So, if she stresses her experience, it still might not be enough.

8. Maybe a sharper contrast with Republicans, without using the word "change?"
If "change" is synonymous with Obama or invokes his image, it might backfire for her.

12. Maybe. My point is, I think she needs to win some of that ground.
I don't know that simply citing experience is enough, given the mood of the electorate. In fact, experience could even backfire, as the more-experienced candidate could be taken as being part of the problem.

5. I agree,
she could go with experience and emphasize that change will inevitably come from any Democratic adminstration that follows the idiot in chief.

6. My husband and I heard Hillary say "change"
during her "Oops, I tanked" speech and we both busted out laughing.

She only looks uber-desperate now.

How in the world can SHE be for change? She voted for the Iraq war, refused to denounce
her vote and voted for Kyl/Lieberman, which helps Bush to widen his war.

What in the hell kind of change is that?

She looks really pathetic.

9. Her proposals do represent 'change.'
They really aren't different from Obama's and Edwards'.

7. How about "I'm not a heavy drinker but I'll let you buy me a drink"
just to set her apart from the pack.

10. LOL! Yes, since Hillary seems...
...very desperate for a new slogan, or at least a few fresh ideas:

How about:

"Make sure to have your pets spayed or neutered!"

"Let's be the party that adds the Cheeto to the government food pyramid!"

"People who hold up the lines at Piggly Wiggly with their coupons, are insensitive!"

She could be like SO popular with these cool ideas!

15. They Didn't Want to Own The Theme, Just Muddy The Waters (Like Anti-Invasion)
This is straight from the head of Bill Clinton - take away the opponents advantages - like saying that the royal couple had been against the invasion from the start.
