Charlie Gibson lied to your faces
He claimed that two NYC teachers would make 200k a year. That is a total, complete, and utter lie. Here is the salary schedule.

The most a teacher can make, after 22 years and around 8 to 9 years of post secondary education ( a bachelors degree, a masters degree, and 60 more credits) is 95k. Gibson lied, plain and simple. The median appears to be around 75k tops.

And perhaps costs such as Workman's Comp and Unemployment Compensation.

If that's so, it's still dishonest, as you point out.

4. you don't get taxed on those
in point of fact, you also don't get taxed on retirement so taxable income for the 95k is more like 86k (assuming a 10% retirement withholding).
