1. Yeah, they both sidestepped

Can't say that I blame them, although I think Edwards really won out on that question. Then again, he had a "cutesy" answer at the ready.

3. They were smart to not answer that question. Great job on both their parts.

8. It was "What have you said in a past debate that you now wish you hadn't said?"
Hillary and Obama both answered vaguely that there were a few things here and there, and then changed the subject to the difference between their debate and the Repubs. (Hillary did it first, then Obama copycatted her.)

Richardson said he regretted once saying, when asked who his favorite Supreme Court justice was, that it was Byron "Whizzer" White. He had said it because of associating White with JFK, only to realize later that White dissented in Roe v. Wade and was "against civil rights" or something like that, and now he regretted it--which made everyone laugh. (Not sure why he implied White was against civil rights. I don't think he really had a point there, but anyway.)

Edwards said he regretted having made fun of Hillary's clothing at a previous debate, and told her she looked great tonight. She laughed and it was a funny moment.

I think Hillary and Obama both would have done better not to dodge the question and to have just come up with something concrete like that, that would have sounded honest. Instead, they sounded like job candidates being asked "Name a time when you made a big mistake" (some employers actually want to know the answer to this because they think they will learn a lot about how a job candidate handles problems and learns from them) and they said something like "Well, I've made many mistakes in my day, but let me tell you what makes me better than my coworkers regardless..."

No. That is not the question. The question is, what did YOU do that you now regret? And what did you, possibly, learn from it?

9. I thought about this
and you know, Obama really didn't make a major gaffe at a debate. Just the drivers license thing which would be political suicide to bring up again.
